The Petition’s Aim

A petition is just a tool used by people who desire to make some changes or have a cause. Petitions are useful because it gives a person the chance to be heard and make a difference in the lives of many. A person’s signature is worth a lot. You may know this especially when you’ve done some transactions before where signatures are required. Without your signature, you can’t withdraw your money from a bank. Without your signature, you can’t get any legal documents under your name. Signatures are used on many documents and most transactions, without it you can’t make those transactions. If you are just assigned to make a transaction for another person, you’d notice how such a hassle it gets when you are asked for the person’s signature and you would have to drive yourself to meet with the person even if he or she is some miles away just for his or her signature! It may take you a day’s driving just to meet the person and all it takes for him or her to sign the paper is just a couple of seconds! These are just some examples where you’d realize what a signature’s worth actually is.

Now, combine thousands of signatures and you’d know how powerful a petition is. With hard-earned signatures on your petition, you must not forget what your petition’s aim is. You can’t just stop after gathering the signatures but you have to focus on the aim, the reason why you started the petition in the first place and that is for this petition to reach the right people after all the signatures have been gathered.

Signature signing is important for the petition but this is not your only aim. What good are these signatures if they don’t reach the proper authorities? These signatures are only worth something when they have reached the person or persons to whom the petition had been addressed to. If this step has been taken for granted then you should consider your petition a failure.

Basically, the petition is aimed to do 2 things. First, it needs to have as much signatures as possible. Second, it needs to reach the right persons. That’s it! That’s what you should aim for and you should not forget any of these 2 things. Make sure you focus first on getting as much signatures as you can. This will take a lot of your time and effort so you must focus on this because this is the most vital in making your petition a success. Achieve the minimum percentage of population that is required so you could then move on to your second aim. Sending the petition to the proper authorities is not a difficult task. You just need to mail it as a formal letter with the petition as an attachment or you may present it personally. This final step is necessary and hopefully you have not used up all your energy in gathering signatures that you could still go and send the petition as soon as possible.
