What are the different types of petitions?

There are two types of petitions that are commonly being used today. You can choose to go with the traditional type or the modern type of making a petition.

If you are still new to this, you may wonder what the difference between the traditional and the modern type of petition is. Modern type of petition can be done in ones home and utilizes the internet. The traditional type of petition uses the old form of petition where you gather signatures on paper. Both have their pros and cons and you can choose between these two types depending on your situation and what may seem to be more convenient for you and to the people who you intend to sign your petition.

If you choose the traditional type of petition you must prepare sign posts and placards and you must wait outside on a bench for eager persons who wish to sign your petition and have their signatures counted. You could even bring a megaphone with you and talk to the passersby and hope that they would also sign the petition. This is a painstaking type of petition but it works and it’s the one type that has been used for many years especially back in the olden days. It consumes a lot of your time and you would need to exert a lot of effort for your petition to get as many signatures as possible. It may not seem like a very pleasant way of finding people to sign the petition, but you may consider it as an amazing experience and you can have fun while doing it. Have your friends help you and get yourselves entertained in the process. This type of petition need not be boring but it totally depends on how creative you are.

The second type is the modern way of having a petition. This type utilizes the internet and we’ve seen lots of online petitions already. Some are really important petitions that concerns lots of people while some are just created for the heck of it. We can see different online petitions of no real value such as a petition asking for Britney Spears to start making new albums once again or for their favorite rock band to visit their city and have a concert. These types of petitions have been made possible because starting an online petition is relatively very easy. You just need to create an online petition and send the links to as many people as possible. No need for sign posts, no need for placards, no need to shout until your throat bleeds. This is a relatively simpler method of creating a petition but it has its downfall as well. Because of its simplicity, many people tend to overuse it or abuse it. You may notice some really relevant petitions being bashed by spammers. A relatively good petition would end up looking like trash because of these spammers so you have to filter out these spammers as well.

These two types of petition are being used today. Both are effective and are recognized by authorities so you could choose among the two without the fear for your petition to be rejected.
