What can a petition do for you?

Perhaps you’ve seen a relevant petition circulating around your community. You know what it is but you haven’t really read it and you have no plans on signing up because you feel like it’s just a waste of time. You feel like it’s just there to give you high hopes but then you won’t really end up with anything. It’s just a signature, what could it do for you? How could your signature change your life and the lives of the people around you? You may be having all these questions in your head and perhaps you’re not aware of what petitions can really do for you.

So what can a petition really do for you? It can change your life, that’s what. It may be too straightforward and it may not always be the case but your single signature can really do wonders. Your signature alone does not hold any value in a petition but once it is combined with the many other signatures of people like you, together your signatures can make a change. Your signatures can make a big difference in your lives. How can it be? What makes this piece of paper so effective? Just consider people power. It is a form of people power. It’s a piece of paper that once read, would show the opinion of the majority. The voice of the majority is not to be rebuked. You don’t need to go somewhere, hold some placards and shout out what all of you are there for. You don’t need to exert that much effort just to be heard. As long as you, together with the majority, think that an authority has done something or has planned on something that violates your rights, you can act upon it in order for the authorities to know that you are all against it. That’s what a petition can do and that’s what your signatures are worth. The value of the petition lies in the hands of the people concerned.

If you don’t think your signature is worth a dime, think again. If there are thousands of people like you who think the same way, then yes, petitions won’t be worth anything at all. Petitions need signatures and when people think their signatures are not worth anything then there won’t be a chance to make some changes. Should you just let those people in authority do whatever they want even if it is against your rights? Would you just let them control your lives instead of leading you to a better future through proper governing? It’s time that we all realize that working hand in hand will really make a big difference. No man can handle a situation on his own but together, they can create things that one man can never do by himself.

petitions are important because it allows us to express ourselves as a group or as a community. It gives us the freedom of speech, the right to fight for our rights and our beliefs. A petition can do you a lot of things and can help make your life a lot better by putting a stop to actions or rules from people with authority that may jeopardize the group or community as a whole.
