Why Start A Petition:

A Petition is the strong means of expression ones views against the injustice to an individual or group. There are various factors that prompt someone to start a petition. Sometimes these Petitions are overused, especially an online petition that doesn’t cause any good to an individual or a society, rather they just meant to entertain people.

There are various circumstances under which a petition can be initiated. A situation may arise when you are being treated adversely by any company or an association. In such cases you may first request them to settle the matter officially, failing to which you have the right to charge a petition but that wont require any signature as it is not concerning to a group or a community. Your petition will just invite files from the concerning authority. But if that particular company is committing injustice to a group or the entire community then your petition would need required percentage of signatures from the concerning people and finally the company would have to abide by your choices. Your voice will not go in disguise if it is for the welfare of the whole community. Together you can change the whole system and remove any corruption or injustice that is being committed in the society.

Some people do not even look at such petitions thinking that it has nothing to do with them, but someday or other even you might be victim to any such injustice. Hence, a worldwide awakening is required to change the face of the world where no corruption, no injustice and no illegal act will be committed. No one should tolerate any kind of injustice, either concerning to an authority, to a government or an association. If the oppressed party is a group or a section of community then it’s your right to start a petition and protest against them. Those days are gone when you need to show your protest by rallying on street and roads, and shouting through loudspeakers. Petition is a peaceful but powerful method of protesting that doesn’t involve any violence or agitation.

Before launching a petition always ensure that it comes under the norms and values of your jurisdictions. Once after gathering enough signatures you can submit your petition for approval to the local government. It is now their duty to follow the way you have paved to justify the issue. There could be various reasons to start a petition but you must not misuse them just to have fun or catch the eyes of people. You would come across many online petitions that has nothing to do with the interest or well being of society, they are just meant for fun. Thus, you should never take part in such petitions nor even start any as such. Petition has given you the freedom of speech and now it’s your responsibility to use it in the most judicious manner.
