This feature was ALWAYS an Opt-In only feature, and defaulted to OFF for those who wanted isolation and quiet and to only talk to existing friends. For those who used it every day and opted in, we were lucky, it stayed on for us when Twitter first took away the setting toggle at the beginning of the year. But now Twitter has taken away this conversational discovery feature, the feature that made it so cool. Bring it back, as it was, in all it's hard to scale imperfection, and keep it up WHILE you find your more scalable version of it. @BlogDiva of CultureKitchen wrote a great article on her blog on why we want it back.
