http://blogs.coventrytelegraph.net/thegeek...-robin-hoo.html JONAS ARMSTRONG, who played Robin Hood in the BBC's Saturday night series, has criticised the decision to axe the show. The 28-year-old reckons the programme had plenty of life left in it - even though his character died in the season three finale from a poison-tipped blade. He told What's on TV: "I think it's a shame. Someone was saying it'd lost its legs, but I don't think so." He believes scheduling changes hurt the final series: "We were shown at different times (throughout the series) and for the final episode in which the hero dies and the villain dies - they shift it over to BBC2, which I don't think is great. "[It got a] positive response, but hardly anyone saw it as everyone was watching Andy Murray at Wimbledon on the other channel! "I was a bit upset and it was a shame it was switched to BBC Two as it was the best episode of the whole three years by a mile. We felt a bit hard done by, but what can you do..." There had been rumours that Robin Hood's brother Archer (Clive Standen), the illegitimate child of Robin's father and Guy of Gisborne's mother, would take over the lead role while other reports suggested former EastEnders hardman Rob Kazinsky would be the new Robin Hood. But the BBC said the programme had run its course. The decision to cancel the programme follows a decline in ratings. The first series averaged 6.19million viewers, falling to 5.83m for the second series and 4.02m for the third. The final episode was seen by a peak audience of just 2.2m after it was switched to BBC2 because of an overrunning Wimbledon game.

http://www.whatsontv.co.uk/news/6383 This article has an extra snippet. Jonas said it was emotional leaving the series that made him a star. "Yeah, especially the scene when he’s saying bye to the lads. Usually there was a lot of banter going on between takes, but with this it was interesting as we all went off to different pockets of the forest getting ourselves ready for it. It was the culmination of three years of being together and we only did one take and all the emotion was there bubbling before we did it. It wasn’t hard to get the tears going. They were there for real!"
