14 year old children are not allowed to get jobs and shouldn't be allowed to because they are not mature enough to hold up a job. Once you get a job you can't just quit and stop working. Its not that easy. Once you get a job you have to pay taxes, learn about what you're interested in before going and making such wild statements.

I agree; 14 years old is far too young to hold a real job. However, I think being able to have simplistic jobs or volunteering would allow them to get a taste for what jobs are like and perhaps better prepare them for life after school. In this aspect I agree with their petition. That's not too say i think 14 year olds should be allowed to work at Medtronic--what I mean is that young adults should be allowed to get their feet wet in some jobs. Even packing somebody's groceries in a department store would drastically rise the appreciation of work and responsibility. What I find sad is that so few of these types of jobs are available; even at my local library, one must be 18 or older to be allowed to volunteer there, which snatches away the opportunity for a child to try their hands at various occupations and see what suits them. In this aspect, I partially agree with their petition; there should at least be more jobs made specifically for young adults to help prepare them for the world and allow them to raise money of their own.
