Although i am TOTALLY for military being able to have dogs inhousing. i DO NOT think they should allow pits and rotties. I PERSONALLY have lost 3 LOVING dogs in my life due to QUOTE friendly pit-bulls. Their dogs attacked my dogs. (no they wernt all atonce or even teh same 3 pits). I got a new neighbor that had a pitbull and it barks all day long (which yes any dog can do) But ive seen first hand how a quote friendly pit can turn on you int eh blink of a eye adn i feel VERY unconforatable with a pit nest door now i cant even let my children play in our own backyard cause of the dog it makes me uneasy. WHY OH WHY would they even allow pits in a houseing community that has children is beyond me. SO i so support beign allowed to have pets but NOT PITBULLS.

That's how housing is in Groton, CT. They don't allow Pits, Bulldogs, or Rotti's.

I'm sorry but ANY breed of dog is capable of attacking. Recent studies have shown that some of the most aggressive dogs are actually Jack Russel Terriers, it's just that their bites are VERY under reported do to them having small mouths. I have an American Bulldog (which is a breed of pit). He is a friendly dog that has never shown aggression to another dog or person but I do not let my guard down when he's having a play date with another dog. It has been genetically breed into him to finish fights if another dog starts one so if a dog he's playing with bites at him there is the potential for a fight and again pits were breed to fight to the death. I have had to tell friends with much smaller "friendlier" dogs that they couldn't bring them to my house to play with Rocco because they displayed aggression towards him and I knew if they started a fight that Rocco finished it would be my dogs fault not theirs. Rocco has been attacked by another dog once (a husky which is allowed in base housing) and luckily he didn't realize the other dog was trying to hurt him or he may have fought back. As it is, I agree that base housing should allow pets but I don't agree with breed restrictions. There is no such thing as "bad" dogs, just bad owners that don't properly train and socialize their pets or take the proper steps to ensure that their pets aren't put in an unfortunate situation.
