Save the Original Nightmare on Elm Street House!

We the undersigned hereby oppose the destruction of the Queen Anne Victorian house located at 18 Elm Street, Potsdam NY. It's a piece of Potsdam history as well as cinematic history and deserves to be spared razing and/or burning as a fire drill.
A student film project under the supervision of professor Wesley Craven was filmed at this location. It sparked Craven's film career and he went on to produce the series of movies entitled "A Nightmare on Elm Street". Although not a direct influence, this property still remains a piece of horror history and the undersigned are committed to preserving it for future generations.

This property also holds significant historical significance for the village of Potsdam. The land once belonged to an early settler and has changed hands many times over the years, serving as a private residence as well as a Fraternity house. A beautiful example of Queen Anne Victorian architecture, 18 Elm is a jewel among the many historic homes in this quaint Victorian village.
