I support this petition. It would be such a great help in the research of my family since so few records are available. It would be greatly appreciated by so many people of Irish heritage.
I support this petition. Two out of my four sets of great great grandparents were born in Ireland. There may be relatives that remained in Ireland I might find information on with the help of the 1926 census.
I support this petition. I live in the United States, but travel frequently to Ireland to research. The release of the 1926 census will be a great help to genealogists and historians.
I support this petition. The majority of my family came from Ireland and as there are few records available, every bit of information is very welcome. It will be invaluable to all those searching for their family history.
I support this petition and ask the Taoiseach of Ireland, Mr. Brian Cowen TD, to use the powers vested in his office under section 33 (3) of the Statistics Act 1993 to release the complete returns for the 1926 census.
I support this petition. Although it is important to take steps to protect the private information of living persons, the census did not collect information of such a deeply personal nature that individuals are likely to be embarrassed by its release now, almost eighty-five years after it was completed. Moreover, the information contained in it is of interest primarily to genealogists rather than to the public at large. The current 100-year restriction, as it applies to census information, is overly protective and should be modified.
I support this petition!!!! I don't live in Ireland and am finding it extremely difficult to trace my family history any further back than my grandmother. PLEASE make the 1926 census returns available to the public!
Many thanks,
Sheridan Friedman
I support this petition. I live in Australia and it is so hard to find much to do with Ireland my grandfather and g. grandparents were born in Ireland (Dublin) and so far I have not been able to find anything about them.
I support this petition. As its practically impossible to access church records in Waterford. This would be a wonderful source to locate people born before civil registration
