I'd like to see another level based 2d Castlevania title. But I disagree with all the people here about Lament of Innocence sucking. Certianly is a much better game than SotN or the extremely overrated Aria of Sorrow.
Curse looks ok but the other 3D castlevania games are crap.
I would love another 2D castlevania, with the power of home consoles, castlevania 2D could blow away SOTN.
Come on Koji, make us fans say "Can any castlevania top the new 2D one on *Insert console here* like we are saying with SOTN/NITM
You have 2D down. If anything, integrate what you have used in 3D into 2D, and not the other way around. 2D is not as successful because the 2D castlevanias were not marketed correctly. How can it be financially successful without marketing and more copies of games on hand?
It would be nice a new 2D Castlevania game. Maybe it could use 3D models for the characters, but the latest 3D castlevanias aren´t as good as Simphony of the night.
I want a huge new 2d castlevania episode using the power of the next gen machines and their great amount of ram for the best animations. Metroid style gameplay as the great gba episodes or Psx/Saturn Simphony of the Night versions would be the best choice. We want castlevania glory back !
hey i think everone is too caught up in 3d i say make one huge castlevania in 2d with anime cut scence...different playable characters and all the other things that made 2d castlevania greaT
I have no problem with having 3D Castlevania games, but I don't want to see them overshadowing the 2D Castlevania games. 2D gaming continues to be rarer as time goes on and many like myself would hate to see it die. I'm hoping that Castlevania can preserve 2D gaming by taking full advantage of 2D capabilities on home systems.
After seeing your interview in Castlevania Chronicles, I've always hoped for a new 2D remake of Dracula's Curse. What ever you do, just don't stop making 2D CV games, there legendary.
Bring back 2d Castlevania, Igarashi. Any jack ass can make a 3d game, that doesn't mean that it's good, or that 3d is necesarilly the end-of-all superior replacement to 2d. Too many people take the charm of 2d games for granted without thinking about it's good points.
I'm a avid Castlevania fan. I've been a fan ever since the first Castlevania and been following it ever since. I, like many, love Symphony of the Night, and would love if Konami would decide to create another 2D Castlevania title for a home console. It's something that many of us fans been wanting for a while. Something that utilizes smooth 2D sprites with backgrounds meshed in 2D and 3D. That's all we're asking. Thanks for your time!!!
I've been a fan of Castlevania since I played the first one on the NES back in the dim, dark '80s. It was my first NES game, and probably still one of my top ten.
I've played and enjoyed every Castlevania since then, though some less than others, and I would dearly like to see another SotN style game on the next-gen consoles. Lament and Legacy were both fun in their way, but neither really grabbed me like Symphony, Aria, or the originals.
Hopefully we'll see more games of that stripe in the future. I'd love to see what could be done with a PS3 SotN-style game. :)
3D Castlevania has never been popular, hell even with a slight success it always turned out bad. The only castlevania game in the bit newer consoles exceeding the snes were the playstation title symphony of the night. Stroke of brilliance and the right amount of orchestral music and animations / graphics made this game shine. More titles using these same elements with new story lines can ensure a great new title! So please more 2D!~
Whenever I see a magazine or internet gaming site that has a list of the top 100 best games of all time, I always see Symphony of the Night somewhere towards the top of that list. Many consider it to be one the best games released for Playstation. It was a very successful 2D game that was released at a time when 3D games were already dominating the market.
I have every reason to believe that a new 2D console Castlevania game can enjoy just as much success in today's market. I have nothing against experimenting with 3D Castlevania games, but there is plenty of room in the gaming industry both 2D and 3D games.
It truely is a fallacy that 3D equals better. 3D games are fun to play through once. But after I beat the game, I usually have no desire to play it again. Even if it's a game that I really liked playing the first time. However, there is something about a good 2D game that keeps me coming back for more. It doesn't matter how many times I beat it, I'll still play through it again. Replay value says a lot in my book. To me, that is what truely defines a game. A great game is one that is played over and over again.
Don't get me wrong, though. A really neat 3D Castlevania would be nice. Hopefully Curse of Darkness will be good. It's just that I've been several Castlevania message boards, and the general consensus that we would all like a new 2D Castlevania released on a console. Remakes and re-releases of old titles would great too.
This would be cool. But I still want them to continue with 3D games. Only one console 2D game then straight back to 3D. It could be done, just needs more effort. Plus I like the way it is. 2D on portables and 3D on consoles. It gives players choices. Choices are always good.
I never really realized it, but I actually DO like 2D better than 3D! As far as platformers go, anyway. With the newer technology they could make a 2D game that's 400 hours long or something.
I think that the main reason for me wanting a Nintendo DS in the first place was for Castlevania DS. If there was a 2D Castlevania released on a console, I would seriously look into purchasing it.
Casltevania is a great series, and 2D gaming is one of my favorite types. It would be so awesome to see a huge 2D Castlesvania on a nextgen system, and if I didn't have the console already, I'd buy it.
Since we never recieved a port of Rondo, I can only hope that by my signing this petition that Konami will finally allow a return to 2D gaming. Since this game would obviously be a great success, maybe then they will finally re-release old and rare Castlevania games to meet demand for 2D.
However I have no mistrust that Curse of Darkness will fail. I think it will be a triumph! So even if we don't get a nex-gen 2D game, we'll have Dawn of Sorrow.
2D Castlevania is so far much more successful than 3D Using the whip in 3D just isn't as good as in 2d because the feel and method just doesn't feel like Castlevania. I like how Curse of Darkness is coming along, and can appreciate a 3D Castlevania, but a break would be nice. Personally, I'd suggest a collection. The first 3 Castlevanias still 2d with heavily updated Symphony of teh Night style graphics, and a modernized soundtrack would be wonderful. You could also add in the Super Nintendo Castlevanias and Chi no Rondo.
The handheld CV's show how popular 2D still is. Aria of Sorrow, Harmony of Dissonance, and Circle of the Moon were some of the top selling games on the GBA.
And, most certainly, all those people who bought those games also have home consoles.
A 2D Castlevania on a current home console would be amazing.
There is most certainly a market for a new sidescrolling CV. If you consider the legendary status of SotN and the sizeable cult following of games like Contra: Shattered Soldier and Gradius V, it is certainly likely that a new sidescrolling Castlevania would be well received, and would bring new fans into the fold.
Do it for the fans, pay them back for making castlevania the successfull and almost legendary franchise that it is. Don't make this game with the aim to sell a lot, EA will do that already, nobody likes games like that.
A tribute to the long time fans of castlevania. Even if it doesn't sell a lot, most of what Konami made is part of fans of their franchises anyway.
Yes please, do it. The best Castlevania i ever played was Super Castlevania IV with the SNES, but another less-arcade style like SOTN or the GBA Castlevanias would be very welcome too.
The CAstlevania arcade included as an extra would be great ~_^
Please construct another 2D Castlevania game, preferably in the style of the older games, like "Super Castlevania" and "Chi no Ronod" for the PC Engine.
Castlevania is a game series I have long since cherished from my youth. But as of late, I have been concerned about its overall direction. The games on the portables are awesome, but the latest iterations released have been 3D, and have had questionable quality with respect to the 2D originals.
This generation may be over, but come next time, I really could stand to see a 2D-style Castlevania released on the likes of the Nintendo Revolution and others. It does not have to be an explicitly 2D-sprite based game; 3D graphics using a cel-shaded manga style inspired by Ayami-san's designs would also be great to see as well.
But the point is, 2D Castlevania MUST NOT DIE. I hope the words of myself and those like-minded to me will be enough to convey our desire.
How could posible haven't a 2D CastleVania in this console generation (of course, i'm talkin' bout the "big" consoles: Ps2 & GC)
We NEED a 2D CastleVania who can compite with SotN, we NEED another great 2D CastleVania
If IGA want do it, he MUST do it, he IS THE GENIUS, not the old fashioned stupid Konami directive, a genius can't be directed by ANYONE
And what happens with the big 1999 battle vs Dracula, ill be a hidden episode of the CastleVania saga? Holy ****, is THE END OF DRACULA, we need a great 2D CastleVania who narrates this episode
Konami, hear us, WE NEED A 2D CastleVania!!!!
