I own all the NES, SNES, and GBA (and soon the DS) versions of Castlevania and they easily trump Lament of Innoncence. While LoI is great NOTHING can compare to Aria of Sorrow. I won't die happy until I have a 2D Castlevania running on my PSP.
I think 2D provides the best gameplay to the wonderful series that is Castlevania. I'm European, and a fan of the series since many years. Please, Mr. Igarashi, don't disappoint us ! :)
Symphony of the Night was one of the best games ever. It was very well made, and had a very good story. Making another 2d Castlevania with the more powerful techonology that is available now, can only make it that much better.
I think that 2D Castlevania should not be phased-out. Because it's easy to play. I found the special effects in Castlevania: Harmony of Disonance really great. The game is really easier to play and approach, unlike 3D wherein its much easier for me to get lost and have a hard time figuring how to control the character. In 2D, its as easy as forward, backward, jump and attack. It's much easier for me to play, and to enjoy Castlevania that way. Thank you!!
Please Koji, you're wrong. I'm a European and I like 2D games (even 8 bit classics like the nes castlevania). Castlevania is MENT to be in 2D. Symphony of the night proved that fact. Please hear our voices! We want Castlevania in 2D!
Please consider releasing Castlevania on console in full high resolution 2D sprites (luke sammys guilty gear series). Its 2005 so 2D games should not look like 16-bit games.
Castlevania is hands down one of the best 2D games out there. SOTN was incredible, the new consoles open up many possibilites for the ressurection of 2D gaming. Do not abbandon 2D Castlevania! Bring Alucard back too.
Here are a few suggestions for future 2D console games:
1. Have unlockable or selectable characters who have their own story lines that are relevient to the main character's story, showing what they were doing before, during and after the main character's story with their own cutscenes and dialouge.
2. A multiplayer mode that includes either a competition between two character inside and outside the main adventure or a cooperation between the two players as they work together to explore the castle together or seperatly online.
3. A multiplayer mode for online and off is a one on one fighting match between the playable characters in different areas of the castle, located in the same catagory as Boss Rush mode.
4. An idea for a story would be to see the events of 1999 between Julius and Dracula, explaining the mysteries in "Aria of Sorrow," like who were some of the other people that helped Julius, what part did Alucard play in all this, how they trapped the castle in the eclipse in the first place, and why there were zombies of modern day soldiers in the castle.
5. Another story idea is to play through the events of ten years before "Circle of the Moon" when Nathan Grave's parents and Morris Baldwin fought against Dracula.
6. Two other things I would like to have covered in future games would be to have an explanation of who the Poltergiest King is and if Mathias is Dracula or not.
i want more 2D castlevanias , im an old castlevania series fan(NES,SNES), and i like to see a 2D castlevania for the consoles of today (128 bits consoles) but in 2D and i like to see more castlevanias for the XBOX not only for PS2.
i hope the old days come back!!!!!!
It's rather surprising that 2D is considered a risk, especially with the way SOTN now has a cult following. Here's hoping we see another 2D Castlevania on the console.
The problem is the new young cheap players. Cheap players hate 2D games. They are happy with very quality 3D graphics even when the game stinks. The new market its full of cheap players. But, there are a market of good players. Good players love Castlevania 2D. IGA can do a Castlevania 2D/3D, a 2D Castlevania with 3D graphics. But we love 2D games, 3D Castlevanias its ok, but never at the level of 2D Castlevanias like Symphony of the Night.
2D is a platform...not a limmitation. Castlvania is known for its mastery of beautifull 2D splendor. Game companies have lost focus on what matters in videogames...its not a high polly count that matters...its content. Dont beleive me? Look at the game World of Warcraft...it does not by any means have groundbreaking technology or obscenely high polygon counts....the reason why Blizzard Entertainment's game has done so well is content...and love of the game. Please bring back the Castlevainia I know and love....Let me explore the wonderously mysterious countryside of Walachia and unveil the lore found hidden in the walls of old castles and ancient landscapes. I long to venture into the earily beautifull and somhow frightening halls of the cursed castle itself. Please...dont let this story fade to the obscure oblivion of high polly counts and little content.
I'm one of the many diehard fans that enjoyed Symphony Of The Night to a very high degree. Please bring back Castlevania into the 2D world, where it really belongs!
your a fool if you dont make another 2d one. you guys obviosly dont make very good 3d castlevanias I meen I have to playgod of war and pretend thats what 3d castlevania is. Stick with 2d dont experiment with 3d when you allready got a good thing going. by the way im still waiting for the us version of dracula x to come out at least give me that if your going to make awful 3d excuses for castlevania.
the 2d platform games didn't have the graphics or the 3D to make the game better so the gameplay and the storyline needed to be A++++, please make another 2D castlevania game that focuses on the gameplay and story and then worries about what it looks like, thank you
I have been a longtime Castlevania fan and I would love nothing more than more 2D castlevania games, as the series works best in the two dimensions. However, a little more difficulty (maybe not to the level of NES castlevanias...) couldn't hurt...
Iga-san! I along with many others love 2D Castlevania games and want to see one on a home console again, especially one directed by you, who we now consider synonymous with quality Castlevania! Please do not let yourself be daunted by the barriers of people who seem to no longer like 2D gaming or the difficulty of creating very detailed sprites on advanced systems! If anything, the advanced capabilities of these systems should allow for even greater freedom and imagination in creating 2D games whether they be sprites or 2 1/2-D worlds, especially when compared to the handheld systems 2D games have recently been mostly limited to. Especially in the American market there are thousands of Castlevania fans like us who will surely respond to your creation favorably with our hearts as well as our dollars.
A good 2D Castlevania game is pure gaming bliss. Growing up with the Castlevania series has been a pleasure, and all series highlights have been 2D. Another amazing Home Console 2D CV game is LONG overdue. Even if it's a remake of Rondo of Blood, Myself and every Castlevania fan on the planet would snag a copy as soon as it hit shelves.
Mr. Igarashi:
The three Castlevania games for the Game Boy Advance were the favorite of any released on the system, and the sole reason I purchased a DS was to play the Castlevania. I would support any new 2D Castlevania.
I think there should be a new 2D Castlevania console game! I agree with this petition and I hope that people will hear our voices so we can finally get a new 2D Castlevania console game!
A new 2d Castlevania should definately be made on a home console, most people out here that play Castlevania are hardcore gamers who have grown up with the NES, they are more likely to have a PS2, XBOX or PC rather than a Nintendo DS which generally children prefer. A Castlevania with a more darker adult direction would kick ass.
Man, it's about time to make more 2D games for consoles. And not those ****ty remakes that people throw together for the hell of it. I need a 2d Castlevania with more depth than all of those GBA's. With console power, a Symphony Clone should be somewhere around 3X as big as the "best castlevania game ever". Am I not right??
2d Castlevanias is the best thing since slice bread and Symphony was its apogee! I fully support this petition, because i want to see new 2D CV... especially vote for remake of "CastleVania Simon's Quest" or "Chi no Rondo"!!
A 2d game with some 3d elements like bosses or areas would be great, SOTN touched on these. I'd love to see a massive 2d/3d game again there is nothing nor ever will be anything like a side scrolling castlevania game, there is way too much 3d these days, gamers need more varity, 3d is becoming stale and bores me. A massive 2d castlevania is just what gamers need these days, with beautiful colors, artitsry, and sound. I will proudly purchase any return to a 2d castlevania on a home console. 3d castlevanias don't satisfy my need, and a follow up to Sotn is overdue.
I always prefer 2d Castlevanias, and Symphony was its apogee! I fully support this petition, because i want to see new 2D CV... especially vote for remake of "CastleVania Simon's Quest" or "Chi no Rondo"!!
Now, the 3D Castlevania's aren't bad, they just don't capture the spirit of the series like most of the 2D games do. I still play the 2D games, especially SOTN and AOS, while the 3D ones, I play once and move on. I can't wait until Dawn of Sorrow.
I've played every CastleVania there ever was and the most enjoyable ones in the series have always been the ones developed for home consoles. I love the handheld ones but I think IGA needs to reinvigor the home console with the classic gaming he instilled with Chronicles, Rondo, and Symphony. Please, bring it back to where it started. I support this petition.
If there´s any chance of Castlevania coming in 2D format for a home console, than I totally support it! I think 3D would be great in the background or special effects, but the main action should remain two-dimensional.
The single greatest 2-D gameplay experiences I've ever had have come from the Castelvania series. Symphony of the Night, in particular, is a gaming masterpiece and while the GBA games have been carrying its torch to some extent, I believe a game made in its fashion with the hardware capabilities of current and next-gen systems would be a hallmark in gaming greatness.
I am signing for Castlevania to get back to its roots and be made in 2D. Castlevania is simply not the same if it isn't in 2D. It just isn't the same. I have a knack of not finishing games, and i tell you, Castlevania (specially the 2D ones) are the only games that i play from start to finish with such devotion and dedication.
Now i hope that the next Castlevania would tell the story of how Julius Belmont FINALLY sealed off Dracula and how Arikado came into existence in the Aria of Sorrow/Dawn of Sorrow timeline and answer a few plot loops from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night as to what happened to Alucard and Maria. I wished that IGA would seek professional help from writers and other people who are good at presenting storylines so that the next Castlevania will not only boast breathtaking 2D graphics, but a memorable storyline that will push Castlevania into new heights of gaming greatness.
I also have a thing about the secret characters in all Castlevania's I have played. I wished that they could have atleast a decent storyline to fill in the gaps of the main story as well as interesting gameplay mechanics rather than just having to play them thru the same ol castle.
I also wished to up the difficulty and as well as the final boss. Make the final boss a very challenging experience for us to remember.
Make a TRUE successor to Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.
Eventhough most of the world has gone 3D, people can't forget their 2D roots. I would love to see another 2D Castlevania game on the home consoles. GBA and DS makes it conveient to play these beautiful games on the go, but I want to see this series to take advantage of the current power of home consoles and bring 2D to a new level. 2D will never die, that's a fact.
I agree to IGA's idea to revive the spirit of 2D gaming on home consoles. I for one loved the past Castlevania's especially those that were made on the GBA. I just wish that IGA would focus on developing better 2D Castlevania's by spicening up the gameplay and allowing the gamers to choose their difficulty level, so that seasoned veterans and new comers alike are welcome. I loved the difficulty presented at Castlevania: Circle of the Moon, and I wanted IGA to bring that kind of difficulty back again together with his breathtaking mastery at 2D graphic presentation as well as a rich innovative gameplay found on Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow. I also missed the voice dubbings done in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and having that back would be a welcome addition. I kinda disliked the artwork done at Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, and wish that Ayami Kojima would be back to do the art again. And lastly, i would want a memorable soundtrack on the next Castlevania, as well as a much more detailed and larger castlevania adventure together with a compelling story. IGA you already made great work with the DS, i hope you could make the next 2D Castlevania again on the DS with all these in it (Why on the DS?? Because your Castlevania on the DS offered a really great way to play 2D games that home consoles JUST can't make like touch screen interactivity and dual screen functionality) for the fans to finally enjoy another Castlevania masterpiece.
