Castlevania's always been one of my favorite series, although the latest rendition hasn't really delivered the same way the 2D versions have (especially in SotN's case.)
Igarashi-senpai, your mastery of the genre of Akumajou should not go unnoticed. 2D games are a perfected beast, which can only be catapulted to legendary status through vision such as yours.
If another 2D Castlevania were to come out on console, I would be very very happy. I would preorder the game as soon as possible, and be the first in line to get my copy.
I would love to see a castlevania on home console. I personally like the old beat em ups back in the day but they are coming back with companies such as atlus, and others. You see the industry is all intent on making 3d games while other franchises are just fading away. If we are to keep franchises alive in 2d we need to convince the developer that neither games in 2d or 3d are prone to sell more than the other.
I grew up with Castlevania, and although I do enjoy the 3D games, I've had more fun with the 2D incarnations.
To this day, the 2D installments of the series are considered to be much better than the 3D games. 2D doesn't have to die.
why cant you do a 2D castlevania game for the gamecube?
i say just one more word.
JUST DO IT!
i mean if you just dont want to 2d games at least bring the
"castlevania ressurecction" projekt.
just look at the sales figures and listen to the voice of the fans. Symphony of the knight still is one of the most popular castlevanias, Castlevania four still holds a place in many a gamer's heart, and the fanbace screams bloody murder at the lack of a us release of Rondo of Blood. Not to mention the success of the 2-d games. If you can make a bigger, better Circle of the moon or a more challenging Symphony of the knight then by all means do so. You'll be a rich and happy man.
I grew up on Castlevania, and though Lament of Innocence was nice, I still crave the 2D action of the NES and SNES games. Please, Mr. Igarashi, you've GOT to give us another 2D Castlevania classic! The series is a god among games!
Symphony was a great game and very lenghty, wich was one its the best features. if all those cool efects, items, masive castle areas, bosses and enemies fitted in one CD, imagine what can be done with the data capacity DVDs have. maybe even some extras could be included. btw IT DOESNT MATTER THE CONSOLE, if you are a true Castlevania fan, the least you can do is to go and get the console for which the game is made for. greetings from Mexico.
The true castlevania essence and series was with nintendo..so if in case of doing so..make it MULTIPLATFORM!!!Many kids out there never get to play castlevania 1234, and they were 100% castlevania...guys who think sotn was the best one is because they don't realize castlevani a lost in a way it's essence due to stealing super metroid's basics...it is in fact a masterpiece but it was like half castlevania and half metroid...anyway...YOU MUST NOT FORGET CASTLEVANIA REACHED A BIG AMERICAN AUDIENCE DUE TO IT'S NINTENDO GAMES BASICALLY..SO THE LEAST WE COULD GET IS BERSION FOR OUR CUBES!!!! Thanx...From mexico we beg you..please..make a triumphant return to our beloved saga!!!!
i just want to say that igarashi..is very good at what he does..but i don't like it when he said bad things about castlevania 64..because lament of innocence looked like it..there was no major graphical improvement at all..that means castlevania was meant for the 2D gaming pleasure of us all, and he should've learned that from previous try outs...when a game is successfully translated to 3D then everyone is pleased..like let's say zelda..but that is not the sace of castlevania...castlevania belongs where it belongs..which it's 2D...and nowhere else..please igarashi..listen to our prayers...this generation of consoles is still here..so there is still time left to make everyone happy..old school rocks...look at the success of viewtiful joe...of course it'LL be successful, no doubt about it.
In order for 2D games to survive today on home consoles, they must be particularly good and already have some prior establishment; what better way to continue than with castlevania? No game has ever captured my heart like Symphony of the Night.
oh my god, freakin great. its gonna happen eventually i know it. i hope that game informer or g4 knows about this so the word can get out.
Koji Igarashi is the man!!!!
Igarashi, your fans are calling. Listen and give us the 2-D heaven we've been wanting since SotN. Also, the idea of a "Greatest Hits" package almost makes me drool with anticipation. Especially the thought of Dracula-X (PC-Engine version) being included. I pray you seriously consider this.
I have a hope, I have a hope, 2D castlevania in the sony or nintendo or microsoft game console, please IGA hear our plea. Don't forget your fans.. never.
Please, don't dismiss the idea for a 2D castlevania, it'll be great, just imagine the detail of the graphics and SFX, it'll be like SotN or yoshi's island on crack (in a good way, of course) with gigantic sprites, insane special effects and terrific 3D in 2D details (like the villa in olrox's quarters, or the FX found in games such as contra shattered soldier or viewtiful joe) and of course a massive laberinth-like castle and better and faster action (LoI was great but the combat is speedier in 2D). An idea for a 2D castlevania, why not remake all 2D castlevanias in one package (like super mario all-stars, but it'll be castlevania all-stars) and it's not so crazy in an interview with IGA he said that for CoD he originaly wanted to make a dracula's curse (castlevania III NES) remake but in 3D so making new editions of the NES, SNES, GB and genesis 'vanias isn't so far fetched. But anyaway, it doesn't matter if it's new or a remake just please make a home console 2D castlevania we'll promise we'll buy it (maybe even 2!!)
With the recent classic 2D game collections being made available for the PS2, there is absolutely no reason to avoid releasing a collection of the previous Castlevanias at the very least. This idea was successful with Chronicles on PS1, and should prove to be even more successful when working with the entire back catalog on a more powerful console. To continue experimenting with new concepts and environments would be great, but balance is also needed. Longtime fans are sorely in need of a good dose of classic Castlevania in addition to what's been offered as of late, be it a collection or an entirely new game in the vein of the originals.
Symphony of the Night was one of the best games ever. It was a wet dream of game design, music and graphics. It would be very sad if we never saw an equal to that game.
We need another 2d game on a home console. It has been too long since the last one that we have seen and I think IGA could pull off an excellent adventure.
ive always thought of castlevania as the best in the 2d gaming biz and i have konami to thank for that, but now that all these new 3d release's of castlevania have come ive lost interest in the game, simply put it would be an honor to play through another great 2d castlevania.
2D Castlevania must be continued... it is one of the best loved games in this format, you only have to look at the recent successes of the GBA games to realise that...
While I enjoyed Castlevania: Lament of Innocense, Castlevania has always been better in a 2D format. It helps retain the classic feel of the older Castlevania games, but still allows for implementation of new features. Also, please, please, PLEASE port Dracula X: Rondo of Blood!!
The great GBA verson's got me hooked first. I only played SOTN just last summer and it blew my mind. Another console 2D Castlevnia must be made, I am behind this 100%.
SotN was one of the rare games that I LOVED to death and played so many times that I can't even remember how many times. I loved everything about it, style, graphics, music, story, characters, replay value! SotN was THE best Castlevania ever. Alucard was ironically the best lead character as well (and seriously needs a sequel apearance). Multiple choice of weapons is a must (this is why Aria Of Sorrow was the best for GBA). Please make another 2D Castlevania. 3D is over-rated, there is no need for good 2D games to go 3D. Doesnt anyone care about the people who have been playing games since NES and still buy games today? We are the gamers or we are the gamer's fathers now.
Honestly, SotN needs a re-release for PSP and it will never leave my hand. Forget consoles for now.
With the dwindling number of 2d games on the market, and the even smaller number of QUALITY games with true DEPTH, consoles NEED another SOTN to get them through tomorrow! I spent many hours killing monsters in STON, COTM, AoS and now DoS just to find every item I possibly could! It's not about how awesome the visuals are... it's about how awesome the game is. Casltevania is able to do that and more.
3d games are good, but 2d games are GREAT. After playing through most castlvania games (I loved Lament Of Innocence), I still love the SNES and PC-Engine and Playstation versions more....2d still has that nostalgic feeling...Also when doing a game in 2d, u free the processor for more great effects. Look at Gradius V on the PS2, it's 2d (with a small mix of 3d, but mainly it's 2d), and it's EXCELLENT....We're hungry for 2d games....place any price, and true castlevania fans will buy it!
The first game I owned on psx was SOTN. I fell in love with video games and Castlevania all over again. The enchanment of the series lies within its 2D roots. Return Castlevania to where it belongs in 2D!!!!
2D Castlevanias are a must. To cast out 2D is to do a great injustice to Sonia, Trevor, Simon, Christopher, Juste, Richter, Maria Renard, Alucard, Sypha Belnades, Grant Danasty, Nathan Graves, John Morris, Eric Lecarde, and Soma Cruz.
A 2D Castlevania games on the consoles would be great, and hopefully it would stop Sony's non-sensical hatred for 2D games. If anyone could do it, Koji Igarashi can.
Please, for the love of god, DO NOT ABANDON THE ROOTS WHICH HAVE BUILT THE FOUNDATION OF CASTLEVANIA!!! Symphony of the Night was one of the greatest games of all time, ESPECIALLY because of its beautiful graphics and flawless animation. Please don't rob us of a wonderful chance to experience it in a whole new light!
Castlevania has continued to be good as 3D but does not come near the greatness it has achieved. Lament of Innocence was a good game but it does not have the innovation or stand out above any other 3d platformer. 2D Castlevania series games, whether on NES, SNES, GBA, PSX or PC-Engine, have continually been recognized as the best games on their respective system and continuing to push the limits and innovations within the 2D format. Konami and Iga have the unique opportunity to continue to push the limits of what we know and experience with gaming and be unique by continuing to create a genre that other companies have forgotten about. Why pass up such an opportunity to stand out and not only be the best, but the only company and creators worth mentioning in the genre.
Castlevania games have been at the greatest in 2D, all the 3D titles of this franchise have dissappointed me, and I fear will always do so.
So bring back 2D Castlevania to the home consoles.
2d does still sell! What about Megaman X8 or 2d fighters like Guilty Gear X2?
The legendary CV games allways have been 2D, like SotN and RoB!Make another 2d CV!!
Symphony of the Night, Circle of the moon, Harmony of dissonance, and Aria of Sorrow are some of the best Castlevania games ever. Castlevania on the N64 was not that great. Castlevania Lament of Innocense while good was still not anywhere near as popular as the 2D games were. Europe may not like 2D gaming but Japan and North America still likes 2D.
