2D Castlevania is the only real Castlevania. SotN was a pinnacle of the series! I enjoy all the 2D GBA games immensely, and I look forward to DoS on the Nintendo DS.
I'm hoping for another console 2D Castlevania too. The Nintendo DS has great graphical capability, but I would also like to have cd quality MUSIC along with such a great game with so much detail and presentation. Thank you for making the series becoming so great even after the many changes of the staff developement chosen to work on them.
Rondo of Blood re-issue on new consoles?
I have been an avid Akumajou Dorakyura fan since the beginning. While the newer 3d games are nice, there will always be room for a 2d Castlevania.
Akumajou Dorakyura X:
Gekka no Yasoukyoku is the epitome of the 2d Castlevania series followed closely by Kyassuruvania: Akatsuki no Menuetto.
2D Castlevania! Thats practically what I need to remain sane in this world. And a home console version would make my life complete! I can only play NiTM over and over so many times.
I have been a huge fan of Castlevania since the beginning, and I would love nothing more than to see another 2D Castlevania game hit consoles. The 3D games were good, but the series's roots are in the 2D style. Please bring it back!
The vision and greatness of Castlevania seems best realized on the 2D format it was created upon, and going back to it's roots for a next gen 2D console would be an outstanding move.
An imaginative series that brings a wild, viberant world to fruition through an engrossing storyline and superb gameplay. Castlevania should endure, and deserves to...
2D!!!! LONG LIVE 2D!!!!!
I LOVE CASTLEVANIA!
I JUST LOVE IT!
BUT CASTLEVANIA IN 3D IS JUST CRAP, THE REAL CASTLEVANIA, IS, AN WILL ALWAYS BE,´IN 3D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !
Ive played every castlevania thats ever been released, and prefer the 2d's over the 3d counterparts. SOTN set the bar for castlevania! we need more 2d master pieces!! keep em coming, castlevania rocks! :)
Castlevania symphony of the night is the best Castlevania, and one of the best 2D games ever made, becuase it used equipment instead of having a whip. The Castlevania genre is a good series, and putting that option was an instant success. I bought LOD in hopes that it would compare with SOTN, which it was the closest, but still not there. Using 3D or 2D graphics, I don't care, just make another Castlevania SOTN!!!!
I own all of the 2-D castlevania's and I do think a new one on ps2 or something would be awesome! And make it have a cute girl as the playable character! Im tired of all guys.

"We need to keep on making quality 2d games to show the world that the true quality of a game comes from gameplay and story. A simple, straightforward but deep game like SOTN would translate as good as ever now as it would have throughout the ninties. Play Super Metroid again to see what I mean!!!"
I totaly Agree 2D Games were fun back then, these gamers who like 3D games don't know what true game play really is (I'm not saying that all 3D games are bad). 2D Games should live on, And as programer I'm going to go as long as I can without Going 3D
Mr. Igarashi-san,
I have been a Castlevania fan ever since it's inception.
Honestly, I can't really say there has been a bad Castlevania game. Even the much maligned Castlevania 64/LOD - although bad as far as control and certain parts in the game (lugging around nitro without jumping or taking a hit) goes - the game in and of itself had a great plot otherwise.
In short, you keep making them, and I'll keep playing them.
Hi Koji Igarashi!!
I love your work!!
I live in Europe, There are some people here who love 2D, I love Castlevania Series on various consoles I grew up with it along with many classics,
and as having a 2D animation background and Anime* interest. (*trend is now is heading towards)
It's still an exciting medium, and refreshing to see in this era of Computer graphics
I love to see 2D castlevania on console as i know friends prefer the PSone one than the cg ps2 one, I would love it even more if Castlevania had lovely animation sequences too.
As well positively consoles there are also some people I know who can't play hand helds well but play great on a bigger console, and there are some people who have consoles but don't have hand helds and want to play the game but do not wish to purchase the machine just for it.
I'd buy a 2D CastleVania on a home system. Imagine the graphical possibilities! If the latest Gradius game on the PS2 is any indication, it would rock. Oh, and I do not care what Europe says. I don't live there.
First off, Thank you for the great castlevania experiences Mr. Igarashi. Now I need to say that there is no question as to whether or not a 2D game should be made for home consoles. And if someone does not give Mr. Igarashi the ok to do a 2D console game, well they can to H***! Next I want address those who commented about not caring for Igarashi and his team that created the masterpieces that graced the PS1,GBA,PS2,and soon to be DS. He took the next step in the 2D castlevania games(Castlevania SOTN).And he did a 3D Castlevania the way it's supposed to be done(Lament of Innocence & Curse of Darkness). Not the N64 games. So dammit give him the respect he and his team deserves. Lastly, Mr. Igarashi please keep the excellent games coming. Also tell the the lovely Ayame Kojima to keep up the Flawless Castlevania artwork. Thanks.
a ver pinche amarillo peludo y mamon , ponte a trabajar en mas castlevanias en 2d, ya estamos hartos de los castlevanias en 3d, me cagan porque me marean.
a ver si ya te pones a mover el culo pinche japonesito.
IM NOT FAN OF IGARASHI, I DONT CARE ABOUT THAT GUY, BECAUSE THE ORIGINAL CASTLEVANIAS ARE NOT HIS WORK, IM A FAN OF THE ORIGINAL CASTLEVANIAS SERIES, NES SERIES AND SNES SERIES , IM A FAN OF THE OLD CASTLEVANIAS, AND I WANT MORE OLD STYLE CASTLEVANIAS, DOESNT MATTER WHOS MAKE THEM, WHOS PROGRAMED THEM, OR WHO CREATED THEM, I HATE THE NEW ANIME-MANGA STYLE CHARACTERS, I LOVE THE ORIGINAL USA CARTRIDGES ARTWORK...I WANT MORE OF THAT.
I'm such a fan of Castlevania. I'm sure Curse of Darkness will rock but it won't have the same feeling as a 2D game for a console. imagine all you could do with the power of the PS3 still being able to the 2d engine. You could make a long game with so much depth that it would go down as the best Castlevania I think. Remember your roots people, this is how we grew up, 2D gaming and no one does that better then Castlevania
ive been playing castlevania since i was 5 years old(im 21 now). i actually bought the nintendo sp to play the 3 castlevania games that came out for it and i am going to buy the nintendo DS just to play dawn of sarrow. all castlevania games should stay 2D. keep it real!
If a Castlevania for a home console was to be released, and it was in the style of Symphony of the Night...I think it would be absolutely fantastic. Mr. Igarashi, I ask you to please create the most memorable experience in Castlevania history since Symphony of the Night. And also, PLEASE RE-RELEASE RONDO OF BLOOD and NOCTURNE IN THE MOONLIGHT (Saturn ver, of course) for a home console system! They would be spectacular!
We need to keep on making quality 2d games to show the world that the true quality of a game comes from gameplay and story. A simple, straightforward but deep game like SOTN would translate as good as ever now as it would have throughout the ninties. Play Super Metroid again to see what I mean!!!
I have some artistic suggestions for Mr. Igarashi and Konami...
Keep this game similar to SOTN, it set the 2d standards and captured hearts.
the same type of great symphony orchestrated music.
beautiful backrounds.
more great secrets to stumble upon.
more relics, but with a little bit more personality
THANKS AND I CANT WAIT TO SEE THIS MASTERPIECE
2D games are an art form that I have for far long ejoyed, especialy on my SNES. Yes, those days are long gone, however, I still prefer 2D games to 3D ones wich are (sadly)indeed profitable by todays standards.Yet I just keep trying to believe that game makers are not all about money (like some seem to be) and hope to see more Castlevanias and other franchises of Konami still appearing in 2D format.
I have played almost all of the Castlevanias on whatever system they came out on and will continue to do so. The 3D Castlevanias (LOI being my favorate, right now) are great and they are continuing to get better and better with each entry. However, it would be a shame to never get play another 2D Castlevania on a console again because that is where it began for me. So it is my greatest desire that you continue to make both 2D and 3D CVs for consoles.
Bring back 2D Castlevania! While 3D Castlevania's weren't that bad, they just aren't as good as other 3D games like Devil May Cry. If Castlevania could use some of the Atomisware software, then it would be the ultimate CV EVER!
The fact of the matter is that the best castlevania games are side-scrolling. Make Castlevania a side scroller with 3D backgrounds like Contra for ps2, and I'll crap my pants (In a good way).
Nocturne In The Moonlight for PS1, is widley considered to be one of the best Castlevania ever. Perhaps a new game with the 2D graphic engine of Guilty Gear XX ? Now that would be really nice.
hey Koji Igarashi remember me and my adventures through the 2d castles, belltowers and forests. i think we should relive those days soon, have your people call my people and we'll get this ball rolling.
I think they should mix both 2d and 3d like they did with sotn. They should make 2d games for the next generation handhelds and make 3d CV for platforms, word.
I have all Castlevania titles on all systems, so no matter what you do, I'm there. However, there should be more Symphony style games. The 2D's are quite superior and will be missed if no more are made. Also, please hurry and get thing running on an Anthology
Maybe a "greatest hits" game for Gamecube (all on one disc) including versions previously unavailable for the system like "Symphony of the Night." Kind of like the Legend of Zelda Collector's Edition for the Zelda series.
Been playing Castlevania since the begining, and I know I speak for all my friends when I say that another 2d Symphony of the Night style Castlevaina would be bought in a heartbeat. Make it, and we will buy it!
I have been a fan of the 2D CV games since Simons Quest. CV is the reason I still play games. I do like the 3D games of late but having played SCV4, DXROB & CSOTN has made me yearn for 2D Castlevania games for their artistic beauty and depth. If DX owners get the goods so should the rest of us.
