Anyone who remembers Symphony of the Night should know how great 2D Castlevania is. I enjoy many 3D games, but Castlevania shouldn't be one of them. It's not about a war of style, it's about doing what's best for the series, and I believe it's 2D all the way.
Symphony of the Night was the greatest Castlevania ever and the 3 GBA games and the DS game are all excellent as well. I would pick up a new 2D castlevania for the consoles in a heartbeat.
I have loved CastleVania for around 20 years now. Please bring back 2D side-scrolling CV games. This franchise should be ranking near Metroid and Zelda status. Please bring CV games back and en masse!
Symphony Of The Night is easily the best title in the series and probably the greatest game ever made. And it's 2-D! It's only right that another title is made this way. If another was made similar to SOTN, then I would be a very happy man. From London
I would love to see a new 2D Castlevania game make it to current or next gen consoles. Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse is still my favorite video game of all time. If you do decide to make it, please bring out on a Nintendo console since they are always my system of choice.
While I'm a big fan of Lament of Innocence, Symphony of the Night is the quintessentialCastlevania game and the world would be blessed to see more like it.
The best Castlevania games ever made were 2D format. You got lucky with Lament of Innocence, but nothing even comes CLOSE to the 2D masterpieces such as Symphony of the Night. All of us hard core Castlevania fans really want to see another 2D platform Castlevania game on home consoles, not just the DS or handhelds. Imagine the size a Castlevania game could be if it were put on a next gen system in 2 dimensions. We NEED it! Thanks for this opportunity to voice a fan's opinion!
Castlevania has been, and always will be, at home on a console. 2d castlevania is one of the greatest childhood memories I have, getting the first castlevania, reading the manual cover to cover on the way home, popping it into the NES...castlevania is one of the greats that CREATED the journey from left to right, and with god as my witness, letting that journey have an abrupt end at the hands of the 3d market is a tragedy that I'd rather not have happen.
Please continue to produce 2D Castlevania games no matter what system they are on. A console 2D Castlevania would rock as well as a next-gen Castlevania.
~Castlevania Fan!!!
All I want is a brand new Castlevania, and a tough one this time ! If Iga isn't able to do it, I think Konami sould find another director for this wonderful franchise
I am all for a @-D Castlevania for the home consoles. Though I would infinitely prefer it if it wasn't another Symphony of the Night clone. We already have too many of those as it is!
Sad as it seems, 2DCV has more heart and soul than 3DCV. Give us more 2DCV, and throw in a complilation of the older games for a newer console. Like Megaman did.
I don't think that Symphony of the Night 2 would be so good, rather a spinoff story including the Belmonts and maybe Alucard as well, but not a sequel, a fresh breeze is always welcome.
But not to stray too far though, as a well-established story such as SOTN:s is hard to come by. Let it be up to Mr Igarashi to decide, but let it be up to us to pleade to him to make a new 2D-Castlevania, that's what I have to say...
I agree. A sequel to SOTN would be waaay too cool, just be sure it has at least two playable characters with different styles, lots of enemies, and some music from SOTN.
There can be no denial when it comes to 2D-Castlevanias, and 2D-games for that matter - they ROCK!
And one other thing, I come from Sweden and thus, I live in Europe, and you can all tell Koji Igarashi that we LOVE 2D-games, and we LOVE Castlevania!!! I can hardly wait to experience another 2D-Castlevania on my TV for a change =)
There's no doubt about it: the best castlevania games are the 2D ones and we have yet to see a 2D entry for a next-gen system.
We NEED a new 2D Castlevania for a next-gen system!
Castlevania can be fun in 3D, but I really prefer the 2D games. Please keep making them! I also agree with the idea of making Rondo of Blood available outside of Japan.
Symphony of the Night was by far one of the most enjoyable games I have played. The graphics, music, wide selection of arsenal, and everything else exceeded my expectations of what a 2D game could offer. I can't even imagine how rad a new one would be. We need CV in 2D!!!
