The first time I played Castlevania it was in my N64 and I didn't like it. But some years later I played Castlevania Circle of the Moon and I said: What a fantastic game. Then I played Simphony and after that I love this saga. Please, do more Castlevanias in 2D.
Thanks
We love you Igarashi-san. Don't lose heart. As long as there are Castlevania fans, there will always be those who cherish its roots. Don't be scared to reach for your vision, we all love traditional Castlevania gameplay.
Castlevania is a 2D game since his roots, rondo of blood and Sotn only demostrates this sentence. Castlevania must remain in 2D not turning in a new Devil may cry clone.
Home console, with stunnig 2D graphics and sound must be the next step in the series
The Castlevania series always has had its reference in graphs 2d. The essence, the quality and the enormous charisma of this saga are deserved that 2d. has continuation in consoles of next generation in format If Playstation gave light CSOTN, GBA Aria of Sorrow and DS Dawn of Sorrow... that can offer PSP, PS3 or XBOX360? Bye
Definitely there should be at least one more 2-D Castlevania on the consoles, I believe the 2-D Castlevanias are amongst the best I've ever played in a game, period!
castlevania has been probibly my favorite 2-d serries ive ever played and i realy hope to see a 2d castlevania on a next generation consoule, its something ive realy been looking foreward to since i played SoTN, so yeah, i hope it happens.
I finally got around to playing castlevania:lament of innocence, and although i enjoyed it, it was lacking the the charm and replay of symphony of the night. the gameboy advance games were incredible, but i think a 2d castlevania on a new console would have a much bigger effect gameplay wise.
Castlevania should stay true to the roots. Even if they dont sell well the fans will always buy them off the shelfs, even if it doesnt appeal to non castle fans. 2D truly is the apitamy of what a castlevania game needs to be. but dont forget RPG with multiple weapons, like SOTN but totaly different. No whips!
I don't exactly care about a NEW 2D 'Vania; I'd at least like Dracula X: Chi no Rondo rereleased on a current console (like the X68000 game was on the PlayStation 1).
There are games that should remain true to their 2D roots and Castlevania series is definitely one of them.
Please Mr. Igarashi, give us more 2D greatness.
I would love to see another 2-D Castlevania game again. Ever since Super Casltevania IV I was hooked. I loved Symphony of the Night to death.
I think fans would appreciate another 2-D Castlevania game. No matter how realistic how free and open minded you can make 3-D. The fans will always have a link to the old days of 2-D games. This is why.
1. 2-D has been around since the dawn of videogames. You cannot just put it past you that 2-D is done and finished with. People really fell in love with 2-D Castlevania games. They would love to see ATLEAST 1 more 2-D game before the whole industry turns it's thoughts into the three-dimensional plane.
2. 2-D games were a great success. Even factoring in the time that 3-D games have been around. 2-D just sold better. Look at Symphony of the Night. Fans fell in love with it's simple 2-D air.
3. The best Castlevania's were...guess what?...2-D.
So please IGA make another 2-D Castlevania for the foolish diehards like me.
Hey, IGA! Hear us, Castlevania fans! A 2D game, if done correctly (Rondo and Symphony, anyone?) can easily live up, even when everything is going 3D! Do something very original and visually amazing, and it's sure it will sell well! Castlevania in 3D is just no match for it's classic counterpart (just compare CastleVania the first with Lament! Hell, I think still now I'm playing more with my NES!)
We need a 2D CastleVania for home console AS SOON AS POSSIBLE (I don't care if it's a remake, just make them more appealing : think of a CastleVania III,IV or Rondo of Blood with the mechanics and style of Symphony of the Night...
2D GAMING FOREVER!
I'm fine with having 3D games as long as the games are well done, and I'm sure that I'm one of the most hyped persons about the upcoming Curse of Darkness, but there are two undeniable facts:
1. The best games in the series are 2D. Symphony of the Night, Dracula's Curse, Chi no Rondo, Aria of Sorrow, Super Castlevania IV... The're all great, arguably some of the best games ever created on their respective systems, and so far no 3D Castlevania has managed to top them.
2. Fans demand more 2D Castlevania titles. There are thousands and thousands of fans out there who fall in love with the old 2D games, and the sales and opinions about the 3D games don't come close to those of the 2D ones. I don't know who got the idea that doing 3D Castlevanias was going to guarantee more sales, because it's pretty obvious right now that if you want sales you absolutely need to give fans what they want: More 2D Castlevania titles.
Konami really needs to realize this as soon as possible. We all know that they do games because of the money, the more sales the better. It's not like three or four Castlevania fanatics are demanding a 2D game that no one except us is going to buy, most people want a 2D game. So, Konami, if you want sales DO a 2D Castlevania game, because that's what fans are demanding. The sales of the 3D games prove this.
2d isn't dead, should never die, as mentioned sotn was amazing with the design, i'd settle for a 2d game like that, or even old school castlevania, god, imagine that, stunning back grounds, amazing music, playing the was games were first designed, dated to some, but not to me. Please give us 2d on a home console IGA.
i belong to the old generation of castlevania players, im 25 and ive always been a huge fan of the series, thats why i'd like to ask for a 2D, with rich graphics and a great soundtrack, it would be great for the anniversary of the series, thanks for your time reading this...
Screw what they think, Westerners DO like 2D games and I wouldn't mind if ALL games on the next gen systems were 2D. 2D games are like works of art. 3D games are just trying to be like real life which is not cool.
There is absolutely nothign wrong with a switch to classic 2d gaming every once and now.
If games like Viewtiful Joe and Paper Mario have taught us anything its that fans and nonbelievers alike still have an everlasting nexus with the past which will never break.
Castlevania clearly is best kept a 2D game. Super CastleVania IV has always been one of the best combinations of art, interface, replayability, and fun... Plus I can not think of any 3D games that involve characters using close-combat weapons that were ever really sucessful in recent times. Unless you hire the best & brightest at Apple Computers to create a new innovative user interface for you, making CastleVania 3D will require you to:
1) Spend a lot of effort on a crappy game
2) Make something other than CastleVania, but label it "CastleVania" (Which the fan base will not bite for)
please, lets show all the young kids what "gameplay" is.
95% of games now are all pretty but lack any gameplay or replay value.
if i wanted 3d, i would go out side.
sotn along with all the other 2d castlevania games are what put the series in full swing. remember the 64 verisons, and the ps2 version? i took back my ps2 version the day after i bought it, all i got was a store credit of not even half of what i paid. as for the chronicals release, the revamped port of the x68000 version is excellent!
just think how wonderful a castlevania project could be done in 2d with todays and the next gen consoles.
its overwelming with the possibilities!
please Mr. Igarashi,
dont let these "money hungry" 3d only companines sale you short on your wonderful talent!
please listen to our words as we are all true fans.
thanks

A remake of Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest would be particularly nice, but any Symphony of the Night-style game would be great. If Nintendo can make 2D console games, why can't Konami?
No question Symphony of the Night was the best Castlevania Game Ever. In my opinion it was the best game on the Playstation, and probably the best game ever. That should be proof enough that a 2D game with a good backing and budget can be successful. If nothing else, you could have a 2D play control with 3D sprites like Contra Shattered Soldior or Ikaruga, but I think the Free-Roam style of play will be more successful than Contra SS's linear pattern memorizing play.
2 complete failures, and one moderately sucessful attempts at 3d should show that Castlevania just does not translate well to 3d. A SOTN style game, with a Contra S.S. graphic overhaul might be more welcomed.
Castlevania LOI its regular-good(6,5/10), and Curse of darkness feels better, but Castlevanias 2d are the most addictive games from this fantastic saga.
Symphony of the Night was and is still a beautiful game and thats on PS. If there were a Castlevania on PS2 or even the newer systems to come the 2D graphics could be 100 times as good as the art from Guilty Gear X2 and that is a good looking 2D fighting game. So anywas 2D is beautiful and we the fans, need a new home consoles 2D Castlevania!
2D is the best way to play castlvania. Any 3D encarnation of the game is simply a completely different game. Symphony of the Night was amazing. It looked great yet remaind 2D and played the way Castlevania is supposed to be played.
The 3D Castlevanias tend to be ignored since they aren't really all that different or more impressive than a lot of the other 3D stuff out there, but in 2D Castlevania is #1 and everyone knows it. Even if 3D games usually do sell more it's almost guaranteed that a new 2D Castlevania would recieve more attention and therefore more sales due to the series' track record.
Castlevania's formula just doesn't work nearly as well in the 3rd dimension as it does with two. I'd love a sequel to SOTN or perhaps a new 2D Castlevania on a console rather than a handheld.
