castlevania is one of the oldest and longest life span video game series period.
Any type of gameplay similar to SOTN and the GBA/DS on a normal console would kick ass in ways I've never heard of. 2D FO LIFE BABY
The Castlevania series has been my fav. since the first 8-bit NES release and having recently played Dracula-X for PCE, I realized 2 very important things.
1) 2D gaming has been the method for delivering 20 yrs. of gaming excellence to many gamers throughout the world; 2) It CANNOT just go, but rather must remain alongside it's 3d counterparts.
It is also makes me relealize that we need a re-release of ALL the Castlevanias ever made on all consoles to preserve the rich history this franchise has contributed to gaming, alongside Super Mario Bros. and Mega Man!
Thank You!
Just because consoles are leaning towards 3d, that doesn't mean you can't do a 2d game that uses gorgeous 3d. Think about the fusion of 2d and 3d that was used for SOTN and DS!Don't give up hope!
I'm thankful that Castlevania is still appearing in 2D on portables, but isn't it about time for a new console Castlevania in 2D? Even 2d gameplay with 3D graphics would be acceptable. As long as the gameplay is 2D and the music is CD quality ala SotN I'm happy.
The 2D Castlevania games are what have defined the series. While the 3D Castlevania's are fun, they don't have the same interest level and replay value as their 2D counterparts.
please keep making 2d castlevania games,it just cant compare in 3 dimensions, ohh and can we have another one with alucard as the main protaganist.ps youre a legend. It was expensive for me to get a copy of symphony of the night here in ireland, but i eventually got one for like 200 euros, but it was worth every penny,we need more games like that.
I was introduced to the Castlevania series by Symphony of the Night, and to this day it is by far my favorite game for either the Playstation or Playstation2. Since then, I have enjoyed all of the 2D GBA Castlevanias, and am sure that one on the new consoles would be just as enjoyable.
The 2D castlevania games are all that remains of the golden 2D era of gaming, when all games were made of pure gameplay and graphics was but a whisper of a focus. We cannot lose this final lifeline of quality.
2d castlevania is the best!!!i play 3d castlevania and it's ok but 2d will alway be my fav!
nothing is better than SOTN!!! just make it a lil harder.lol
I'm sick of being inundated with run-of-the-mill first person shooters, 3D Beat 'em ups, and sports games. Even though the Castlevania series is aging, It's one of the few names I can come back to and time and time again I will not be disappointed. Please, PLEASE continue making these games. This classic, no, LEGEND, needs to live on.
Like most fans, I am in love with the 2D Castlevania games. The horror-oriented action always makes me smile. Nothing like whipping or slashing countless Skeletons.
2D was the way Castlevania was first made, and that's the way it should come; in classic 2D. The recent additions since the GBA generation (use of a free-map system, using extra abilities) only improved a good series, and I want to see these improvements coming, and more amazing action from the Belmonts, Alucard Tepes, and the many other cast members of the Castlevania games.
Also, I'd like to see Sonia Belmont make a comeback. XD

Castlevania is my absolute most favorite video game franchise. It has now spawned across so many systems and has excellent game play! I was about 7 or 8 years old when the very first Castlevania came out and since then I have been hooked! My favorites are Dracula X, Super Castlevania, Symphony of the night and Aria of Sorrow. Of course I am going to buy the new Dawn of Sorrow very soon for DS. Please bring a 2D game to Playstation 2 (or 3) because it would absolutely rock the house. It could be so gorgiously detailed and be larger then any of the other games yet. If you make a 2D Castlevania for a home system it will do well because there is such a huge fan base now and even non fans love the fast pace action and just how dang fun it is (not to mention addicting).
Include them all with twecked out graphics. Even the N64 games with a new and improved control system. Spare no expense. people will by them. And set them in chronological order, with interludes to fill in the story blanks between games.
I would definitely like to see more 2D castlevanias. Having became a fan of castlevania after Harmony of Dissonance, I experienced most of the other castlevania games and have grown to love those as well. Especially Super Castlevania IV and Symphony of the Night. I mostly like the castlevanias that were simplistic like Castlevania Chronicles, Castlevania 3, and Dracula X. So it would be great if more games were created like that. Also a collection of some of the previous castlevania games like Castlevanias 1,2, and 3 and especially Dracula X: Rondo of Blood would be lovely to start off. I hope that you would take these ideas into consideration for your next castlevania projects.
We finally have consoles with the power to do an absolutely awesome 2D castlevania (huge levels, lots of palyable characters, maybe Street Fighter-esque bossfights, good music, online play...). It could be a masterpiece. I'd buy it.
My first really enjoyable experience with video games was with Super Castlevania IV. It was an EXCELLENT game, and with today's improved technology, a properly designed 2D Castlevania game could be legendary. Please, don't be afraid to create another 2D Castlevania game. 2D platform games is becoming a lost art.
I have played every iteration of the Castlevania Genre, that I know of, and I find that the depth of gameplay created within the 2d versions is far superior and worth more to me as a loyal gamer than the 3d versions. I think if you fleshed out a deeper storyline, and made the game more expansive on the 2d platform (towns, castles, multiple castles, multiple timelines, flashback games and scenarios, etc.. etc.. a million ideas
) you'd make a killing... 2d is not dead, it's aging like a fine wine, just like the loyal gamers neurotically attached to it (me).
IGA! Please continue the great work, I love castlevania (akumajo Dracula)
I've been a loyal fan of the series since 1987, I find the 2d games to be better than the 3d, because the 3d games feel to bland, but with the 2d games you have bright vivid color, and stunning animation, do remakes for updated systems, like you did with chronicles
I'll buy them all!
put out casvania 2 and 3 on the GBA I'll buy those too!
but don't stop the 2d versions mak 3d as well as there is alway improvment on them but 2d is what the fans have always enjoyed!!
I love 3d games but not all games need to be 3d to be great. Castlevania is one that, while I look forward to the latest 3d iteration on my XBox, would be FAR happier to see a bright colorful 2d version like those on the GBA and DS see the light of day on a TV screen and next gen console. A next-gen remake of CV4 would be great. The specs do not make the game great, they simply take away the technical limitations. The imagination of the designers make the games great!
I love this series to death and another 2d version on consoles would rock!!! May I suggest releasing an anthology series with the old NES and GENESIS games on it and the Game Boy ones too. As a bonus, the completed parts of Castlevania Resurrection so hardcore fans like myself can see this beauty for the first time. Also, a port of Rondo of Blood is badly needed in this set.
I just want to say that Castlevania has been one incredible ride for me and definitely a high point in my gaming career. The music, gothic atmosphere, cool powers, fun characters, and great gameplay all fuse together creating a synthesis of awesome. Symphony of the Night definitely raised the bar for action/adventure games and has not to this point had a truly worthy successor in the Castlevania series to completely surpass it in all aspects (although Dawn Of Sorrow really got the gameplay quite right). My other personal faves are Castlevania IV, Dracula's Curse, Aria Of Sorrow, and Dawn Of Sorrow (with a slight honorable mention to Circle Of The Moon). While I am curious to see what story enfolds in Curse Of Darkness, what I would really like is Castlevania to return to the temple that made it awesome to begin with. On a home console in glorious 2D. Please make a console 2D Castlevania happen. Symphony of the Night ruled but I know you can make a game that's at least 10 times better than it if you really tried. So try hard to make another 2D masterpiece because while I do admit Lament Of Innocence was entertaining and had the best story of any Castlevania game I played, 3D doesn't work nearly as well for maintaining the spirit of the Castlevania universe. Return Castlevania to its 2D console roots and I can rest easy that there is at least one series that keeps the flavor of fun gameplay alive.
i too would like another 2d castlevania, the 3d versions just are not up to par.
the only reason i have not bought a console since the playstation is because there are no 2d castlevania games
I would love to see another 2D Castlevania on a non-handheld console. It might be a good idea to throw in the old ones for the NES and SNES, the Genesis/Megadrive, possibly a translated version of Rondo of Blood.I'm gonna have my friends sign this petition as well, we are all huge fans of the castlevania series, please keep those Games coming, they are the best.
Castlevania is by far my favorite series of all time. SoTN has a special place in my heart and is an absolute masterpiece. please, please please continue the series in 2D on the home consoles.
this 3D bussiness just doesn't do it for the series... not that it isn't successful, but it doesn't carry the whole atmosphere and everything that made castlevania what it was (aside from the music of course). 2D platforming :) nothing could be better, except when RPG elements are added in with it. so please make another one!!!
I enjoy the 2D castlevanias more than the 3D, Konami and IGA proves again and again that their 2D games are incredible and breath taking. Please IGA return the series to its 2D roots (or perhaps 2.5D) on consoles.
Dawn of Sorrow shines with incredible depth - immediately upon playing you realize what tremendous effort went into making it. 2D Castlevania musn't die.
