Symphony of the Night was undoubtedly the best Castlevania game I've ever played, and quite likely the best PS1 game I've tried. I still play it regularly, even, what, 10? years after it came out. Making a great game is about more than including all the latest technology.
Not all series' can successfully make the 2D-3D transition. Metroid Prime, Zelda - Ocarina of Time and Super Mario 64 are not the norm. The strength of the Castlevania series has always been in the 2D games, and there hasn't been a bad one. 3D Castlevania was tried, and it doesn't work. You can innovate and be creative in 2D, like you've already done. Stick with what works, and what your fans love.
Castlevania SOTN was without a doubt the best castlevania game I've ever played. The 3-d games are cool and all but they are easy to forget and never play again.A castlevania on PS3 or even PS2 could be massive.Thats what people are craving.PLEASE I BEG YOU MAKE ANOTHER 2D CASTLEVAINA WITH ALUCARD.
I love the direction the series is going with Curse of Darkness (RPG elements etc) but it still doesn't feel right to me. Symphony of the Night lives on as my favorite and I would love to see another 2D game in the same vein.
i would love to see a 2-d castlevania again i love the 3d dont get me wrong but castlevania should always be 2d side scrolling i mean look at what happened in castlevania 64 wowo that game is hard for me to even explain i really dont even consider it a castlevania! anyways i would really love to see another 2d castlevania and hopefully for the ps3!
Please Konami!Another 2D Castlevania game for a home console! The 3D ones are good, but not great. 2D is where Castlevania belongs. And who said Europe doesn't like 2D? We LOVE IT! Gradius V was a massive success here. Castlevania in 2D, with awesome music, awsome backgrounds, great gameplay and with amazing sprite animtion as seen in Guilty Gear and Street Fighter. Castlevania has slipped over the years. The Game Boy has limitations, a a console's power is limitless, as long as there is creative fire behind it. It's time Castlevania went back to it's roots, and came back with a bang. Look at Gradius V. Old-skool can still survive in this generation! There will always be a place for a 2D Castlevania in people's hearts.
The 3d castlevania games are fun but forgetful. The 2d games are fantastic and always go up in value! I will follow you with 2d Castlevanias on any system (the DS one is amazing!) but a console version would be bought from every fan out there! Thanks again
Castlevania:SOTN
Very great game indeed it even reach me here in the Philippines. just askin' how about the PS2 Castlevania game were there is this Hector character, what ever happened to alucard??
I really love the 2D Castlevania games. Although the ratings might be low (2D on next gen), many loyal fans will appreciate it. (I like it to be a very big one... something like 400hrs to complete LOL). Oh yeah, don't forget about the GBA!!!!
You need to reawake the flame of Simphony of the Night on the PS2! We all saw that the 3d interface didn't work as well as the 2d. The side scrolling of the classics was the soul of the games. They could create a fantastic atmosphere that I can't find words to describe it!
Well hope you think about it!
Being a collector I have almost all Castlevania games, regaradless of platform, but I only buy the 2d games at new. The 3d games I buy from second hand shops. etc. Just to express my point of view ;) 2d games are just so much better. Whoever got the funny idea that 3d would be something that the gaming world needs? Super Mario 64 is a typical example just what can be expected from a 3d game. It does NOT suit the Castlevania series.
i loved the castlevania games that they have come out with.SOTN, wow endless fun. 2D games are fun. people have own opinions about them but if you can see Mr. Igarashi alot of people are urging and wanting more of 2D games.just because there are games out there with good graphics n things doesnt mean that people are going to forget about 2D games.castlevania SOTN came years ago.and if you go on gamefaqs.com there are people still playing it.so please take into consideration that these kinds games are one of a kind and because of that and endless fun, people urge for games such great games. you have alot of fans n things like that waiting for another game to come out beacause they love them.please take everything that is said on this petition and see it as fans showing you their love and appreciation. "I love the 2d games way mone than 3d. Castlevania for home consoles would be awesome!"...thank you for your time Mr. Igarashi.2D games are the way to go.no matter what.

The creation of a 2d console version of another Castlevania is long overdue. Please reward longtime fans and new ones alike by developing another great addition to the series.
Let me start off by saying that I've loved CastleVania since the first game, all the way up to SOTN (or Nocturne), but I'm a little confused as to why in the "big" console games, we have to deal with 3-D environments when 2-D environments were working so well. All of the hand held games thus far are fantastic, music is dead on and the characters handle like CastleVania characters should. But these past two ventures on PS2, while decent games, are the epitome of cookie cutter games. I liked Lament of Innocence because of the Vampire Killer whip story, but everything else seemed so repetitave. Again, I love the CastleVania storyline, but if a 2-D game seems to work better, and you're able to work on the storyline more because youre not working so hard on the 3-D effects, I'd rather spend $50 (US) on a 2-D engrossing game, than on a 3-D cookie cutter game that seems more like Devil May Cry and less like CastleVania... stick to what has worked well in the past 2-D!!!
It seems rather like and obstinate desicion that borders on stupidity, that of not releasing a proper console sequel in 2D for a home console for Symhony of the Night. Do the execs at Konami even realize the rabid fanbase SotN has? Are they both Deaf AND Blind? Hopefully, Konami will set this straight in the near future.
Symphony of the Night 2 is what the gaming world needs. Believe me, for every 1 person that has signed this petition there are 100 others that don't know it exists and WOULD sign it.
I totallt agree with Thomas. I will only buy a true 2d castlevania game on a real console, not handheld. I also want to show my dissatisfaction with the current 3d series. That true castlevania feeling is gone...so gone. Will it ever come back?
You should release a high resolution 2d castlevania. I would buy that instantly. I personally dislike the 3D castlevanias, and as a consumer I havent bought these to show my discontent.
Castlevania's history as a 2D adventure game should always been continued! Very few games now have the "pedigree" that Casltevania does, it just feels right to play it. I would love a 2d PSP or PS2 Castlevania, one that is more exspansive than SOTN, but hails from the same ideals, and has some innovation. Heck, I'd throw some ideas around! Give fans what they want (Alucard and more strong Belmont characters) and you can never fail.
Not saying that there shouldn't be ANY 3D Castlevanias, just that there should always be 2D ones-and just on portable systems. And great job with Symphony, Aria and Dawn of Sorrow.
Although recent Castlevania games are great, I still strongly prefer the older ones. Mostly thanks to the difficulty level and the responsive controls of 2D gaming
A huge detailed castle with hundreds of monsters and items in 2D would be amazing. Not since SOTN has Konami put forth all their resources for a Castlevania game. We all saw what happened with SOTN, it's arguably the best game ever created. Put some effort into it people.
Another 2D castlevania is a must! I have always appreciated the series most in 2D, especially SOTN(of course). Please keep 2D alive in the next generation consoles.
The market for 2D games on home consoles does exist and is willing to pay good money for good games. If something on the quality of Symphony of the Night was released every other month, I'd buy that.
Bring a good 2D game to the consoles... an authentic Castlevania. The 3D series are not that good. Bring the games back to their roots: 2D and in a home console. I'll be sure to buy it.
First of all, I would like (and use the term loosely) to express my DISAPPOINTMENT with Konami for focusing more on Metal Gear Solid than Castlevania... maybe there is a bigger Metal Gear fan base, but the real negelct has been on Castlevania. Sure, they made one for Nintendo DS, but not everyone, such as myself is a DS owner, nor will we go out and buy it just for one game. Personally, I think PSP, IF NOT PS 2 or PS 3, deserves a 2D Castlevania.
Sure, they released Castlevania on PS 2... but I said 2D. I REPEAT, 2D... I'm sure you get the idea by now, considering the whole petition. I am just but one voice... yet I prefer to speak so loud.
"It's not like three or four Castlevania fanatics are demanding a 2D game that no one except us is going to buy, most people want a 2D game." I agree... this, seemingly, is so true. The "TRUE DIE HARD" Castlevania fans are the old school gamers who have played it since the 2D era, especially SINCE the 8-bit days, all the way up to SOTN and the GBA series... anyone else wouldn't know half as much of its history and reputation.
"I'd like it if there were resurgence in 2D games in general." Again, as much as I love SOME 3D games today (NOT including Castlevania, as far as 3D goes)... I agree with that statement.
2D has really helped us IDENTIFY WITH CASTLEVANIA... BECAUSE IN 3D, IT JUST DOESN'T LOOK OR FEEL THE SAME, AND I'M LIKE "WHAT THE F**K IS THIS S**T??? Heck, the CoD doesn't even have Belmont or Dracula! DON'T YOU SEE WHAT'S HAPPENING?!? YOU'RE TAKING AWAY WHAT MADE CASTLEVANIA, and trying to CHANGE IT SO MUCH, WE NO LONGER RECOGNIZE, AND IDENTIFY WITH IT.
Look at Castlevania IV as an example, and make it look much better, which CAN BE DONE on the current (e.g. PS 2) or next gen consoles (PS 3, XBOX 360)
If Konami continues the way they have handled 3D Castlevania so
