I've given up on 3D Castlevania's after Curse of Darkness. Castlevania has always been at its best in 2D and it needs to be brought back to the consoles.
Iga, hear the voices of the people!! Hear your fans who are hungry and who've waited so much for 2d castlevania games in which dawn of sorrow did not fully quench. Dawn of sorrow could not be the remedy for the fan's search for it due to its limited power, graphics and sounds. What we need is a great, long, and complex castlevania games for the consoles.
I'm sure that you yourself are aware, Mr. Igarashi, that Castlevania's most potent platform is 2D; I won't waste any time restating that. I just want to add my number to the overwhelming, collective voice that will hopefully be heard here; a voice that's urging the second coming that we've all been waiting for since Symphony of the Night--a true Castlevania sequel. It's true, the DS and GBA games were incredible (honestly, I never played Harmony, so I can't comment on it), but no portable game could ever hope to match the Masterpiece that is Symphony of the Night. So please, regardless of whether the "Lord of Darkness," or "Dominance" returns, just bring us back our real Castlevania, and save us from the unimpressive, 3D Console Hell that Konami is forcing upon us.
Symphony of the Night was Legendary- Not only the atmospere: Bright (Not-So-Gloomy), Beautiful Orchestrated Music, and an easy map where its actually possible to remember rooms by heart, also, an impressive battle system (as complicated as the sphere grid for FFX is perfect!)Take these into consideration when making another 2-D adventure!
Symphony of the Night is one of the greatest videogames I have ever played, period.
The GBA/DS releases have been massively superior to the 3D titles, and the thought of a new 2D title on powerful hardware is enough to get even the critic in me very excited.
Just look at how sought after the latest 2D titles are! People are gagging for this, world over. Listen to your fans, Konami!
as a fan of castlevania (with blood type CASTLEVANIA) i would like to say that castlevania's soul is mainly on 2D because thats where we met this amazing game. i would love to see a lot of new 2D castlevanias with a lot more of difficult and strategy. also if they could go to PC that would be wonderful, 1- konami gets more $$$ and we get more "^_^". 2- think about it castlevania on PC, would be a amazing way to "revive" old moments now that old consoles are gone. but as pettition says i totally agree
I have been waiting for another castlevania that is as beautifully composed as Symphony of the Night to come out. The 2D graphics were stunning and id really love to see them come back.
Why can't you guys at Konami do both? One year give the fans (what they really want) a fantasic stellar 2D console Castlevania experience... and then the next year do another lousy 3D Castlevania to make the people at payroll happy!! I don't get it, every single 2D Castlevania has been a phenomenal award-winning success, except for Harmony of Dissonance... Meanwhile Castlevania 64, Legacy of Darkness, Lament of Innocence, and from what everyone else has said Curse of Darkness have all been fantasic grand failures. What more proof do you need??
I loved Castlevania on the NES and SNES and I bought a GBA and DS just to play the newer 2D Castlevanias. Mr Igarashi, please give us a full-blown 2D home console version!! Thank you.
Castlevania has shown that it can work in 3D environments as well as 2D, but why abandon the roots? Just one last 2D extravaganza of biblical proportions, and Castlevania can live on as the greatest video game series of all time.
I swear, if Konami comes out with another stupid s--t 3D Castlevania that SUCKS, I'll be considering abandoning the series...
BRING BACK 2D CASTLEVANIA, DAMN IT!!!!!!! CAN'T KONAMI YOU SEE IT'S WHAT EVERYONE WANTS???
Or at the very least, one on PSP or a Castlevania COLLECTION of the series
WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO GET THROUGH TO KONAMI, DAMN IT?!?!? We need to bring such a petition DIRECTLY to them...
p.s. their OVERFOCUS on Metal Gear PISSES ME OFF...
Shaving off the third dimension means you can use the console's power for impressive effects and lots of gameplay and graphical variety. The qualities that have made every Castlevania game stand out.
Castlevania III is the reason I love video games today. Please bring the series back to it's home console roots. Besides, the franchise was pretty much dead till SoTN. 2D owns ALL!
Implement A Massive 2D Castlevania With Tons Of Armors, Weapons And Items With The Sprites Changing Whenever An Armor Is Equipped And Implement Lots Of Different Attack Styles With Each And Every Single Weapon...
I've been a fan of the Castlevania series since I played The Castlevania Adventure on my first Game Boy around 1991. I didn't play any of the NES or SNES incarnations, but I since SotN, I have played all that came out after and before it.
I Dont know why IGA insist in 3D castlevania, It sucks!! I play castlevania since i was 3 years old, and i can tell that this 3d thing is just not Good!¬¬
Please, please, please make a 2D Castlevania game. Symphony of the Night is my all-time favorite game, and I know it could be outdone with today's technology.
Castlevania has long since worn out the rpg elements that became popular for a short time. The platformers, however, will likely never get old to the long time fans.
I would be overwhelmed if you brought 2D back to the consoles. With the graphic possibilities and the impressive hardware of the next-gen consoles, I'm sure you could pull off something fantastic.
A 2d Castlevania would be great for a home console. With the new graphics out it would be a cinch to make the heroes and enemies look cool. If they remade Castlevania 3 for any system I would definitely buy it.
the 3d castlevanias are alright, but ive enjoyed the 2d ones the most, mainly symphony of the night, but the new gameboy ones are also very good. i would love to see a 2d castlevania on a console because there could be a lot more monsters, swords and animations than in the gameboy versions
Yes I would personally love a 2D castlevnia, SoTN was so amazing that if you could in any way, shape or form re-create it I would be the happiest man alive.
I've always been a fan of Castlevania since the beginning. 2D needs another chance at the consoles. Symphony is still my favorite and the only way to top Symphony would be to make another console side-scrolling Castlevania.
look at the percentage of DS units sold compared to the number of DOS copies sold. If Konami thinks that a 2D castlevania game on a home system will not sell they are wrong. I'll tell you one thing the sales couldn't possiably be any worse than the recent titles LOI and COD. I do enjoy the 3D games but more because I don't have a choice and not because the feeling is genuine. Basically you can reach a much larger crowd of people throught the home systems but the loyal fans will not stick around much longer if they don't get what they want and if you are unclear what that is ask yourself "why am I reading this post?" I love the Castlevania series one of the originals from the NES days it is one Franchise that is still going strong but I am getting the feeling that it is starting to peeter out, and honestly that makes me kind of sad because I grew up playing these games. Please do the fans a service and make another 2D game on a home system, what can it hert?
We need a new 2D Castlevania game on a consle such as the PS3 because it would make for so many possibilities. I mean if SOTN was so large then I would love to see what a 2D Castlevania on the PS3 would be like! So come on IGA make a new 2D Castlevania for consoles!
Someone else said that it seems like IGA would rather make 10 bad 3D games than one superb 2D game on a home console, just out of fear. Does this logic really work? I don't think it's beyond the realm of feasibility to imagine Castlevania being brought to life in 3D, but neither IGA nor his team seem to have the eye or the grasp for 3D development to make the jump necessary to really prove Castlevania's place in the modern game market.
One of the most important attributes Castlevania flexes is its aesthetic value. When you have a team of developers stuggling over something like a background texture, I think you're likely to forget what you were trying to express. Castlevania has already proved it can create interactive poetry with Symphony of the Night. You've had -10 years- to top yourselves. All you've given us is a decade of game-like tasks in vague remembrance of SotN. Let Ayami Kojima and Michiru Yamane out of your dungeon start from the beginning, please.
Here's for the day my eyes bleed with joy in attempt to view the beauty that would be a 2D Castlevania on PS3.
