They should allow their games to be downloaded on the Revolution just like the Nintendo games, then you guys would have your 2D Castlevania if you actually would buy a Revolution. If they were to allow their games to be downloaded I would be laughing because of everyone who didn't buy a Revolution but loves this series will be missing out on the classics. Of course I'm getting a Revolution, so I will be having fun if they allowed their games to be downloadable.
3D is now, but 2D is legend. Keep the Symphony of the Night layout, but add 3D environments and 3D spell/weapon effects. Everything else is just imagination, but keep the Action-RPG side-scroller. This will be a happy ending for what it is, if it happens.
Fans still prefer decade old games like Rondo of Blood and SOTN to the 3D Castlevanias. CV is driven by hardcore fans, not casual gamers like other series. Please give the true fans what they want (on PSP as well)!
Yes... 3D does not a successful or market-competitive game make, and the inverse is true of 2D... Form and Content are entirely separate! A truly great Castlevania game demands 2D gameplay.
I would love to see another 2D Castlevania game on a console. Everyone I know agrees that SotN was the best in the series. If you keep the game 2D you can focus on making the largest, best-looking, and most engrossing Castlevania ever to hit the market, and I believe all the fans would be quite pleased with that.
I would much rather buy a 2d castlevania than a 3d one. The story is artfully developed and the gameplay goes beyond that which is found in several 3d games. When I buy the 2d castlevanias currently available I know that I'm getting exactly what I want; a 2d castlevania for a home system would be awesome.
sip... castlevania work better in 2D, i liked more the games of gba because they are in 2d that the other in ps2 3d... in other word mr igarashi 2d castlevania is best that 3d, why dopnt try something like megamanx8 that style may work good : )
A Huge 2D CV game with multiple castles, playable characters, items, secrets, and endings would be amazing, you could fit SO MUCH onto a new gen console. Make it in the style of symphony (which i still play) and youve got a bet seller!
Much more challenging and spectacular in 2d...and the most important...much more funny.Surprising 3d effects in a Castlevania 2d could de great(monsters coming from the bottom of the screen, destroy the environments..)But if you still prefer 3d environments is better a fast gameplay and more arcade control, more secret rooms gaining acces only leveling up the character, new items-means the change of the character look....A Castlevania killing, killing and no breathing bosses. thanks
Mr. Igarashi, Castlevania is a legacy best left in 2 dimensions. I cannot describe the feelings that Symphony gave me the first few times I popped it in! And never give up the mystical, dark, and Gothic atmosphere of Dracula's Castle!
i miss the old school days with the 2d action...not all the people in the world likes splendid 3D graphics...most of the castlevania masterpieces are in 2D so please make an castlevania in 2D again...you wont regret it...and you will never know if its going to be sucesfull if you dont try at least once
ive played the series since the first on the nes but i miss that old lcassic feeling i used to have. iyt would be awesome to have a updated visually of the castlevania series but 2d in a new current system
symphony of the night is one of the best games exist ! ive played many of the 3d castlevanias - none of them can match the dephts of the 2d worlds on nes, snes,ps,pcengine
maybe because the gameplay in 3d isnt that fluid
I've argued to keep 2D gaming alive ever since 3D came on to the scene. If you forget about 2D, you ignore a whole genre of gaming. And think about the possibilties of a powerful home console, not that that's all it takes to make a good game, but Castlevania would look great and run even better. Give us a great side scolling symphony-like game for the next-gen, and we WILL buy it.
Not sigh doubts ami I like the 2 dimenciones but that desaparesca her(it) 2d and mas in castlevania it if it is a torture for a fan as(like) me, and also ojala lanzen also the sinfonia of the night for the ds
I'm a huge fan of the Castlevania series, and while I've enjoyed both 3D and 2D games, I must say, 2D is where Castlevania shines the most. What I would really love to see is a Rondo of Blood-esque Castlevania done for a handheld system and release simultaneously with a console Symphony of the Night style 2D Castlevania...but that's just me.
I have been waiting a long time for another 2D Castlevania on a home console so I don't have to go blind playing it on a small screen. How about a Castlevania Chronicles for the PS2 with Dracula X Rondo of Blood?
I've always felt that the 3D Castlevania games were trying to emulate something else. Although the games were well made, they didn't carry with them that Castlevania atmosphere we've all come to know and love. In a day and age where 3D is the way games are made, I believe Catlevania has, and should continue to, preserve the roots of gaming (and with style too).
Europe doesn't like 2D Games? IMO i like 2D games FAR better than 3D games, because i'm all about gameplay and less about graphics.
A new 2D CV for a home console would be ultimate!
I just hope everyone remembers that when the 2D Symphony of the Night appeared on the PS1, it was feared to be out of step, even then, to release a 2D game on a "3D" machine. Guess what? It made that game stand out even more, and showed us all that less is more. A 2D Castlevania would be adored more than ever in time where such simple things are rare, and the roots of gaming need to be revisited from time to time.
There is something about exploring a castle in 2D that I feel can't be reproduced in 3D. Please IGA, bring Castlevania back to it's roots.
"If you make it, they will come."
2D games are what most of us started playing, so remember your roots, people! Bring back the 2D awesomeness that was CV:SotN in a new, wickedly awesome game! (And don't leave out the Alucard option!)
I like 3-D, but if you compare how Lament of Innocence to Symphony of the Night, there is no comparason the better game, and the 2-D graphics keep the Castlevania feel.
There's a lot to be said about 2D gaming. In short, I miss being able to pick up a game and play through it in one sitting. The replayability of the Castlevania series demonstrates the need to have 2D gaming still around today.
It's true 3D Castlevania games have a certain appeal visually, but what really matters is gameplay. Considering the success of Aria and Symphony, I'd like to see more 2D Castlevania games on home consoles, regardless of what Europeans feel. 2D Castlevania games have a certain charm about them, and I don't want to see them die on video gaming's "big screen." Regardless, no matter what is decided, I'll remain a loyal fan. Keep Castlevania's charm alive, that's all.
If it's possible for Contra: Shattered Soldier and Gradius V to be in 2D with 3D graphics and still be good, why shouldn't Castlevania? Not that I wouldn't appreciate beautifully drawn 2D sprites, but if the budget is a problem, having a Castlevania with 2D gameplay with 3D graphics is STILL better than a completely 3D Castlevania.
Though 3D Castlevania is a worthy advancement for gaming, I wonder if it can truly replicate the charm a 2D Castlevania has. I'm always up for another round of 2D Castlevania.
Aria of Sorrow was a step in the right direction. The risk you took there can only mean you're willing to pursue further venues in the 2D world. The 3rd Dimension is overrated, Castlevania will always have a home in side-scrolling action, and you know that. Remember this when you design the next CV game. ;D
