There needs to be another 2D Castlevania for consoles. I cannot stress this enough. I still think Konami could sell a new SOTN console game easily if they just took the original game and added more levels, dialogue, etc. I'd buy that, and so would many other die-hard fans.
2D gaming and Igarashi, we support you.
Id love to see anouther home console CV. It would be great to have a 'remix' that takes the rpg roaming influence sotn approach. Either useing new or reusing the old characters from the gamut of games as secret characters. Finish the stroy and game with one character to unlock the next. Some of the 3d characters could make an interesting leap to 2d in this way and offer an even greater number of play styles to beat the game with. If it was made for a nintendo product it could even have some cool link up with the gba games to nab the characters or other data for unlockables.
Europe also doesn't like AMerica, but that doesn;t stop them from calling on us when the going gets rough for them. They can take what they get or they can make their own games. The 2D CastleVania games haves consistently had a superior look, quality, and value to all 3D games with the possible exception of LoI. Plus, CastleVania has proved before to be the exception to the rule as far as the success of 2D games (SotN is still a much more highly-favored game than it's 3D afterbirths). One more 2D run on a home console, perhaps with some new innovative features, would be a welcome sight and would definitely be worth the while.
Please make a brand new 2d Castlevania for the home consoles. These games in terms of graphics and music are works of art, and simply are just plain fun.
i want more 2D castlevanias, with technology today you can fit probly 3 full SOTN cds on one ps2 disk :D, making a nice long crisp looking story line..
as for saying that i wouldnt mind having a CV compilation dvd ;). having all the CVs in one including the rondo of blood i never got a chance to play :( .. i like all the CVs but i dont have all the systems to play them which is why all on a dvd will be good im sure all us CV fans would buy that the moment its on shelves :D
but anyways we want more 2D CV games, i want to play the classic way of CV again
I'm so desperate for antoher mind blowingly awesome 2D Castlevania for a home console. I don't mean to be rude Iga, but you and your team have no concept of good 3D game design. But you are the masters of 2D action. Stick with what you're great at! Akumajou Dracula forever!
I think they should do another Castlevania Chronicles having Dracula X: The Rondo of Blood and also Vampire Killer.
Castlevania Chronicles Part 2: A Vampire's Kiss
Castlevania 2D are instant-hits, simple, fun, challenging and different from most other 2D games.
The idea of "another SotN "never being released again isnīt very appealing, isnīt it?
When 2D was the industry norm, there hordes of mediocre games. There is nothing magical about two-dimensional representation that makes games great. It is not the way all games should be; it is not necessarily the most reasonable default.
But the jump to 3D has shown that three-dimensional representation is not inherently better than two-dimensional. Mediocre games keep coming, albeit less frequently and at greater cost. Gamers looks back to the 2D classics of the past not simply for a sense of nostalgia, but because those games still rank among the best ever made.
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night is a classic of the sort that will linger on Top 100 lists after our deaths. It is truly a masterpiece, alongside its 2D older brother, Super Metroid. Attempts to recreate these experiences in 3D have failed, for reasons that are probably obvious to those who play or create video games with any amount of attention. If games of this sort are going to be made, they must be made in 2D.
The Metroid and Castlevania franchises continue creating 2D games, though these games are now consigned to handheld systems. Despite the fact that Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow is almost universally preferred to the 3D Lament of Innocence, and that Symphony of the Night remains the pinnacle of Castlevania games, the newest 2D Castlevania game has been assigned to the handheld Nintendo DS. Many are already speculating that this new game, Dawn of Sorrow, may surpass Symphony of the Night; though, if Dawn of Sorrow does claim the crown, it will do so in spite of being produced for an inferior handheld system.
Koji Igarashi is a master designer, whose hands are tied and future is uncertain. Despite succeeding over and over, repeatedly finding commercial and critical success, he has not been given an opportunity since Symphony of the Night to create a 2D Castlevania game for a console. That Igarashi's artistic genius should be constrained in such a way is akin to telli
i just love this game @ its 2d environment
and also given it a 2d environment means they have to spent more time on the gameplay as well^^
which makes the game even better
Another 2D Castlevania is what the world needs to prove that 2d games are still worth playing. please let it be made. There's definately money to be be made there.
I think that a 2d castlevania game would be kind of cool, perhaps one for the PSP? Or the playstation three. I think that they might get the balance for the 3d versions right if they keep trying, perhaps a 3d game involving Alucard again. Or A 3d Update of legends, who knows. Castlevania is Castlevania as long as they try there best and not knock them out a dime-a-dozen then I have no problem with them.
please, PLEASE do make another 2d castlevania on the consoles. anything like SotN would be great! Just played Aria of Sorrow and I just cant stop wishing that a 2d castlevania would come to the PS2. Imagine beautiful hi-res free flowing 2d graphics with the classic Castlevania experience!
Castlevania is meant to be 2d, Lament of Innocents was good but not a classic. I would like to see Dracula X: Rondo of Blood as the next Castlevania Chronicles.
Heck yes! My favorite outings in Dracula's castle have been 2D. I still play my NES Castlevanias along with Symphony and Lament. Old school can be just as good, if not occasionally better, than new school. Igarashi-san seems to know what he's been doing thus far. I'll try and get my friends to sign this as well.
As great and fun as the GBA games were, and as steadily as they were coming to Symphony of the Night, there was still a gap that they weren't going to bridge due to the size, technology, etc. Since SOTN was the best CV game ever, and no game since has matched it, and no game since has been a 2D Consoler... I think the solution to making another SOTN is pretty darn clear...
With Symphony, you helped create one of the best games ever, Mr.Igarashi. Time to do it once again, for the love of art & the game, in 2D & for all the consoles to enjoy! Also...Chronicles need continuity...perhaps a revamped Castlevania III:Dracula's Curse or the famous, never released american version of Akumajou Dracula X:Rondo of Blood. I can guarantee you a lot of people would get on these games fast! Kudos to all your excellent work with KONAMI, and stay true to your 2D roots.
I have been playing 2D Castlevania games since the original Nintendo system, so i am a old Castlevania fan/gamer from WAAY Back. I just saw the new trailer for the all new 3D Castlevania game coming out next year & i think they finally have hit it right with the 3D thing, but for me nothing beats 2D, i have SOTN & Chronicles for the Playstation & Bloodlines for the Genesis will soon be getting the original Nintendo 2D games on an emulator. I would love to see a new 2D Castlevania come out for the PS2 or even go balls out for the PS3, i would like to see them combine all the great aspects of all the great Castlevania games with the exception of the Super Nintendo version because personally that was awful & i don't even consider that a Castlevania game. The gameplay is awesome & th egraphics could be bigger than life with ton of levels, warp zones & whatever.
Lastly i think along with a new 2D Castlevania there should be a comprehensive Castlevania Anthology issued on all game systems (w/o of course the Super Nintendo version) to where all of the Castlevania games could be put on 4-5 discs & sold reasonable.
In conclusion Mr.Igarashi it would be a great benfit to gamers everywhere to continue the great saga of 2D Castlevania games in the future.
I've been praying that a new console 2D Castlevania game would get made at some point again in lifetime. SOTN is still the cream of the crop.
Just think of what they could do with the backgrounds on the PS3 with a new 2D Castlevania. Just makes me ill in a good way thinking about it. Unless Konami can ever get a 3D Castlevania to have the same exact gameplay and spirit as the 2D incarnations, then I say they should pour their resources into a new 2D version for a home console.
I loved the GBA games, but with that small of a screen, they're limited on what they can do.
Why they think that a 2D game done in spectacular fashion won't sell is beyond me..........
A 2D Castlevania for a home console would probably come as second next to the coming of Christ! I love Castlevania with all my heart and soul, as such it has empowered it with a feeling of extreme loyalty!!
Old school is the way to go for games like this. Make your three dementional games, that's fine, but make a quality old-school game for the rest of us.
Symphony of the Night was a masterpiece in gaming. It was like playing through a Rennesiance painting it was so beautiful. Simple controls were tight as a vice -- alot of games these days employ such complexness that it feels more like trying to solve a Rubix cube at the bottom of the ocean. Bring Castlevania back to it roots, because not only is CV a game, it's art.
I think there should be a 2D Castlevania where half of the game is actually getting to the castle which would be stage based like Castlevania IV and when you get to castle, you'd play it like Symphony of the Night. That's just an idea, but a 2D Castlevania for PS2 would be great!
They NEED to bring 2D Castlevania's to home platforms. I haven't played a great Castlevania game on current gen systems since Symphony of the Night. Please...this is a rare art that simply doesn't see enough attention!
"Symphony of the Night"-How much more of an explanation do you need. Stop making castlevania look bad by pumping out crap in 3d. Good god, can't you take a hint.
I have always loved the 2-D castlevanias, especially the ones since Symphony of the Night. I think 2-D just works so much better for this series. I would love to see another Symphony style game with cd quality sound, full voiceovers, and high-res 2-D graphics. I'm sick and tired of this attitude from companies like Sony that 2-D has to go. Some of us still appreciate 2-D.
3d Castlevania titles were cool...But I think making another 2d Castlevania for the console would be great!...I hope you guys make another Castlevania for the PS2,and other consoles...And make it Symphony Of The Night/Aria Of Sorrow style (or much better),with more secrets, more playable characters (but I hope when you make this possible all of the playable characters has their own story, able to pic up items like the main character, and so on..unlike the other secret characters Richter,Julius, etc.) GBA Castlevanias are great! but imagine the possibilities if you make 2d Castlevania games in the consoles
castlevania in 2d is the only way to go. castlevania sotn was the best, is the best, and will be the best untill another is made in the same fasion with the great soundtrack and 2d graphics i love sotn i have both versions and i still play it even now i just started over BEST GAME EVER
Symphony of the Night in my opinion is the best in the entire series. Lament of Innocence was great, and the 64 titles were decent, but the 2d games, every single one of them has been amazing...and I should know, because I have spent the last 4 months playing through every single Castlevania game ever made in chronological order by storyline, completing each game 100%. I am currently playing Bloodlines, then I only have to play Aria of Sorrow one more time to finish the project, and I should have it finished just a few days before Dawn of Sorrow is released. I would say I am the most devoted Castlevania fan in the world, therefore, take it from me, make more 2d console games, they are absolutely incredible....and it wouldn't hurt to maybe resurrect Simon eventually. I don't think there is a single fan out there who wouldn't like to see Simon return, especially in a 2d game.
They pulled a 2d game off succefully before with Symphony of the Night, what makes them think they can't do it again on a home console? I say, PLEASE make it happen, and possibly on the Revolution......
It's not that I never liked the Castlevania games in 3D, but I think that they would be a lot better in 2D, the Game Boy Advance had great "Symphony of Night" clones, but due to the limitations of the consoles hardware, It was impossible to bring that great feeling I had for Symphony of the Night.
Castlevania, for the Nintendo, was the first game I ever purchased, and I have bought every version since except Lament of Innocence. I made a vow to stop purchasing Konami games until the company began providing 2d versions and collections of castlevania once more (Rondo of Blood port? Someday please?)
