We the current tenants of apartment six, located at 37 West Newton Street feel as though we have earned the privilege of accessing the building via keyless entry. Previously, the condo association argued that only owners are allowed the code for security reasons, etc. I believe I understand the security concern giving us access to the system given our "RENTER" status. With a little regulation and respect for one another, giving us a code will work for all, with no issues. This is my proposal:

Instead of giving us full access to the system, have a third party from the condo association generate one keyless code for both my roommate and myself. This way, we have no ability to change this code, or create different codes for future access. If someone from the condo association witnesses someone other than my roommate or myself entering the building using our code, and verifies that the person is, in fact, a guest of ours, I would not argue if a decision was made to take back the privilege.
Let me assure you, I am confidant that this would NEVER happen.

The excuse given by the condo association for not giving us the privilege is weak and unfair. I am a value added tenant, and certainly put in my share around here because I don’t want to live in a dump. For people who, "don't care about the building because we don't own our unit”, I always clean up after myself and often after others. On Christmas Eve, I picked up 2 bags of trash (remnants of next door) from the front sidewalk area. I did this because I wanted it to look presentable for any guests and family in town for the Holiday, not because I knew Santa was watching. If the stairs need shoveling, I do it. Not to get the keyless entry code, or to get on Kiwi's good side. If it needs to be done, and I have the time, I'll do it.

Just like all of you, I have things in my apartment, that I don't want stolen. (Although I'm sure George and Sean wouldn't mind someone coming in and stealing my turntables and speakers - lol) I hope that what you have just read allows you to see that we too are Americans and anything that makes our lives one step quicker and easier, will always be welcome. Thank you.
