This petition is for the federal government to mandate that mortgage lenders adjust interest rates for those existing homeowners (who have been making thier mortgage payments on time) who simply ask for a mortgage adjustment will get a maximum fixed interest rate of 4% for 40 AND 50 year loans with no refinancing charges, no added fees whatsoever, and no re-evaluation of home value. With so many headed for running short financially in the near future , this petition just makes sense. Not to mention that since 911 we are all on war soil and should get the 4% veteran mortgage interest rate with the Vets getting an even better 3% rate. During his campaign, Obama had promised mortgage adjustments for homeowners and we feel slighted by whats been offered so far, this would make good on that part of his promise.
