I support this petition. A 15 year old kid should NOT be treated as an adult under any circumstances. He was not given a fair trial and certainly was not properly represented.
I support this petition. Please give this young man a chance at justice via a new trial. It is the least that can be done by the State of MI after Mr. Paredes has spent over half of his life in prison based on an extremely flawed trial. God bless you Efren, hold your head brother!
I have known him since I was a baby and I still believe that he is innocent. He has paid his debt to society for his role in this terrible act but he was not the person that killed the victim. The prosecutors made a deal with the real killers and they are running free as Efran continues to pay the price for something he didn't do.
I know of Efren Paredes through his friend Mario Rocha who was similarly incarcerated for a crime he never committed. Efren is clearly an exceptional and inspiring young man whose great potential and gifts are being wasted by this insane system of injustice. Release him now and honor the courage of all those who fight this system.
It pains me terribly to hear that Efren was dealt such a severe injustice at such a young age, but it also gives me immense hope in the human soul to hear how he is positive. To know he is persevering and educating himself and others makes me want to be more altruistic and work hard to serve those communities that are targeted by the system. Keep the spirit alive and keep in touch! Thank you!
This is wrong! He was incorrectly punished for something he did not do! This is just like the case for Mario Rocha, only that Efren was not actually at the place that the crime took place. He needs to be freed!!!!!!
Down with juvenile life sentences! The USA always needs to find someone to blame to make themselves look good. Unfortunately, many innocent people are targeted and put in prison because of the US's selfishness. It makes it 10 times worse when it's a minor who has their entire life ahead of them.
The signature of this petition is long overdue. I beleive in your innocence. I beleive in your strength and wisdom. I condemm our judicial system for convicting you. It is easier to put a man in jail than it is getting him out. Dios este contigo y tu familia.
I am from Saint Joseph MI and I understand how people in this community can let racism rule their lives. I have taken a few race relations classes and have truly learned how sick people can be. Efren needs to have a fair trial, however its sad to say that it probably will not happen in Saint Joseph MI.
