Goal Progress:
In the dubs of the various anime, Yu-Gi-Oh, Shaman King, One Piece, and Tokyo Mew Mew (re-branded in America as "Mew Mew Power" to appeal to Americans), there are glaring changes made to the shows that fans generally disapprove of. In 2004, 4Kids decided to test waters by releasing two uncut volumes each of Yu-Gi-Oh and Shaman King, both of which were extraordinarily successful despite DVD problems. However, after Yu-Gi-Oh Volume 3 was released, the 4Kids DVDs suddenly stopped seeing release for reasons unknown.
This petition is for 4Kids to get back to releasing uncut DVDs for the two shows, as well as One Piece and Tokyo Mew Mew. There are some guidelines that if followed I'm sure would make me and other fans happy:
1) No dubtitles. Dubtitles is a term meaning that the Japanese subtitles follow the same dialogue as the dub.
2) In One Piece, for the dub to recast the voice of Sanji. The English voice for him is absolutely atrocious and should be recasted immediately.
3) For the DVDs to have a good release schedule. The first uncut DVDs had a planned schedule of around 1 and a half months inbetween each DVD release. Close, but speeding it up by releasing one DVD a month would be great.
4) Longer shows really need a better episode-per-DVD ratio. 3 episodes per DVD (the standard) is okay for Shaman King and Mew Mew Power, but One Piece and Yu-Gi-Oh both run for over 200 episodes and frankly, it'd take way too long to get through both. Upping their count by 1 episode would be good enough if they released one DVD a month (12 x 4 = 48, and there are 52 weeks in a year, so only 4 episodes short of what the Japanese get).
5) This might be sort of unrelated, but the TV versions and the uncut versions for Shaman Kings are completely different. This is because 4Kids made two separate dubs for the series. This shouldn't be necessary. If the requests in this petition are followed, then something that would most likely be more cost efficient for 4Kids would be to just make an uncut version and edit it down for TV. It'd also make a lot of fans happier if the edits made only extended to removing blood and the occasional nudity.
Thank you for considering this, 4Kids. Imagine every signature... Yu-Gi-Oh and One Piece, if 4 episodes per DVD, would have roughly around over 60 volumes. Shaman King and Mew Mew would be around 20. That's around 160 total volumes. Imagine if every fan signing bought 1/4 of that - it would total up to be 600 dollars from each fan. If the goal was reached, that'd be around 600,000 dollars made from uncut DVDs, just from this group of people. This group likely representing a much larger number.
It's all in the moolah.
