This petition is to bring back the 4x4 schedule to Polk County high schools. The High Schools have recently been switched to a 7 day period schedule that we will keep all year. On the 4x4 schedule students had four classes a day and that schedule would change after the first semester, giving the student 8 credits a year instead of 7. This also enabled students to take 2 classes in the area which they are majoring (ie. taking Algebra 2 the first semester, then Pre-Cal the next)Now students are restricted to one credit in a chosen area for the whole year since students have the same 7 period schedule for the whole year. This has practically cut the students education in half in whatever subject they are leaning towards as a major or wish to attend college for. Students who have gotten used to the 4x4 schedule are now suffering slacking grades due to the stress of going from 4 classes a day to 7. Overall, getting rid of the 4x4 schedule was a horrible mistake by the Polk County Board of Education and many students, teachers, and parents would like for the 4x4 schedule to be returned to the high schools of Polk County, Florida. This petition aims to help that.
