Canada's beloved poet and writer, 'Leonard Cohen' once lived in Greec. Mr. Cohen noted the disgraceful way animals were treated in Greece. His experience there made him become a vegetarian. You do the math. Greece=CRUELTY! LET THESE INNOCENT CREATURES GO. GIVE THESE DOGS TO GOOD HOME. BETTER STILL ALLOW THE ANIMAL WELFARE ORGANIZATIONS TO TAKE OVER.

The detention of these dogs is illegal, cruel and reflects very badly on the nation of Greece. Your national reputation is suffering; the Greek cruelty to animals is condemned internationally. I personally no longer purchase Greek products nor patronize Greek businesses due to Greek abuse of and cruelty towards animals. You must release these dogs to Arche Noah immediately in order to avoid greater damage to your nation's reputation.

What is the point of this, exactly? Surely it's more humane AND a lot easier for the Greek authorities to release the dogs into the custody of those who want them. Bloody bureaucracy...

Why is this happening?? The Greek authorities must "only" be trying to display that they are the ones in control. This is all about power, I'm sure. The Greek authorities should consider that the dogs are living creatures who deserve to be with loving families, not confined unnecessarily. Let the dogs go!!!

It is astonishing that such a distorted view can prevail to the extent that these dogs are prevented from completing their journey. So much effort by so many dedicated animal welfare workers in Greece has gone into providing solutions for these creatures to escape their suffering and go to loving homes abroad. They MUST be allowed to continue their work and - what's more - they must be refunded every cent of the costs for the dogs to be detained in the private animal shelter. They bear NO responsibility for these costs which must be borne by those who are responsible for causing the detention.

The dogs should be handed back to their rightful owners immediately, Arche Noah Kreta. Also, all tourists planning to come to Greece should be informed about the "adventure" the three animal welfare workers had on Feb 27th 2005 who were driving the 58 dogs. Their experiences are on Arche Noah's website and everybody should hear about this!
