Please release these helpless orphaned dogs, to travel on to their prospective owners in Germany and Holland. How can you hold the mothers with small puppies, and keep them from their new homes and lives?
Greek authorities should stop this insanity. On Crete you cannot rehome dogs in cretan families, nobody wants them. Come to see the dogs tied up on a line for the rest of their lives, most times without water, dying slowly, a real horror. Come to see the atrocities many tourists have informed us about and i have to deal with for 20 years working in tourism. Read their written statements declaring they will never come back to crete because of the situation of the dog on this island and not only for the stray dogs, many times they are more lucky than the ones with an owner. Where is the Tourist Authority, get involved and stop this situation. Cretan population needs tourism to survive and also ANIMAL WELLFARE to change the MENTTALITY TOWARDS DOGS AND CATS here.People of Arche Noah helps to change the mentality and the local behaviour towards dogs and cats. They give their personal time for those animals and local authorities are sitting on a chair in their offices.
PEOPLE OF ARCHE NOAH SHOULD GET AN AWARD FOR THEIR EFFORTS and not being claimed. Give those dogs to Arche Noah and let them live happily after. We are many foreigners living in Crete and all of us are animal lovers and as long as we live we will go on.
Being personally affected I demand to let the 58 dogs travel to Germany immediately, including the three puppies I saved from the agonizing death Greek people had planned for them and who were on their way with Noah's Ark to my friend in Gemany for adoption.
This is outrageous. These dogs have homes. If there is an issue with Arche Noah then sort out this problems after you have released these animals who have new, caring and loving homes to go to.

How peculiar that Mrs. Garagouni, her attorney, Agathi Lekakou and their "friends" within the government Ministries...exert so much power. Is there money involved? This situation must be reconciled or I am predicting that another scandal will evolve concerning funding and once again, the Greek nation will be subject to ridicule and litigation.
And now you care what happens to the animals, why did you not care when they were on the streets.

Let them go home! Although it is not clear why the authorities detained them, because it is also a "waste of money" for them to keep the dogs and feed them for so long. They should understand... Everybody will be happier after they release them! GO, GO, GO!!!
I totally agree that the dogs should no longer be kept by the Greek authorities and that they should be hand over to their rightfuld owners immediately. If the authorities wish to show off their strength and power, they don't need to do so with the dogs!!!!
Give the animal welfare organizations contol over these dogs. Only then will there be a humane outcome. I have no faith in a country that persists to get its own way because of ego.The Greeks in charge of this case (regarding these stray dogs being held) show their character. Evil.
