I live on Crete. I know how hard many ex-pats work here to help the poor desperate animals here. Without them I dread to think what would be happening. I just hope that all this publicity (adverse though it is) will in the long run have a beneficial effect. There are actually laws in place against poisoning. But to date only 1 prosecution has taken place. Municipalities also are required by law to implement a capture, neuter and release programme and provide an animal shelter. But when have the Greeks ever worried about laws, especially those that do not suit them. As has been said many times here, there can be no excuse for animal cruelty. Where is your heart Greece? How can you continue to turn a blind eye to the suffering of innocent creatures that were entrusted to our care? You have brought great shame to your country, and are now seen by the world as a barbaric uncivilised people.Work with the charities please to give your animals better lives and restore some respect to your country.
Even I, here in America, have come to learn of this horrible abuse. I am sure that you do not wish to have the reputation of the Greek people tainted by injustice. The Greeks are known to be a people of culture and righteousness, therefore, I ask you to act according to your history and release these dogs immediately to Arche Noah Crete so that they may go to the people who are waiting for them with loving hearts. God in heaven sees ALL things and He CARES about even sparrows, so we know that HE cares about dogs. When we treat properly what we have been entrusted with, God rewards us. On the other hand, when we do not, there are consequenes from HIS hands. I believe that you will release the dogs to their new homes. Thank you and may God bless you.
Haven't these dogs suffered enough in their short lives? Please free them so they can be re-homed with loving families.
A disgrace for Greece. Return the dogs to Arche Noah NOW
Empounding these dogs is no solution to the stray dog problem in Greece. In fact, the only succesful approach is to spay and neuter the stray animals and to release them or to rehome them. Since rehoming in Greece might be difficult, I support Arche Noah's temporary solution to rehome them in Germany and the Netherlands. However, education about responsible pet ownership and humane stray control should become a key element in Greece to deal with this problem locally.

The Greek authorities have done very little to improve the problem with stray dogs in Greece. The least they could do is NOT creating obstacles to foreign animal welfare groups offering valuable services for Greek stray animals.
Please let these dogs go to there new homes and have their owners take care of them. What's the use of keeping them in Greece? Isn't that costing Greece too much money, unnecessarally? Let them go and help with this way of helping out stray dogs that are otherwise in the way.
Thank you so much.

These dogs are not yours - Neither myself or any of my friends, family or colleagues will visit Greece until they are returned to their rightful owners. This behaviour is appalling and completely unexpected!
Tourism to Greece will suffer unless Greece dramatically improve animal welfare. Freeing these dogs will be a first step to Greek authorities showing their compassion - keeping them impounded will only result in increased press coverage of their apalling record.
Plaese let those dogs go to their families in Germany and Holland. They are waiting for them and offer them a wonderful life with love and security. There are still so many poor dogs and cats in the streets of Greek, who are suffering because they don΄t have such a wonderful chance.
I never more will spent my holidays in your beautiful country, because I can not see so many animals suffering every day on all he beaches and the cities. Please help the animals in you country!
Release these poor, battered and abused dogs and let them go to their new homes in Germany and Grease now.The dogs have suffered enough and are entitled to at good and secure life in loving homes.
It is not only inhumane to detain owned dogs in pounds where they will suffer innumerable ills, it is also a form of extortion, for the owner is illegally being charged for the expenses incurred by the authorities. Shame!
This is just plain wicked - no debate, no question - wicked. These animals have a chance at a decent life and some bigoted selfish humans stand in the way of that. NO JUSTIFICATION.
