The unwillingness to cooperate with foreign welfare assotiations must stop.
These dogs have homes, loved ones that are waiting for them, to give them the comfort and tender love and care, that they never had before.
Instead of intervening in the adoption of homeless greek animals, the greek government should be thankful that fellow eec countries lend a helping hand, and open their homes. All citizens of greece are citizens of the eec, no matter which race or breed. Let the dogs go home.
Greece how can you call yourself european, you are the shame of Europe I will do what ever I can to stop people taking vacations in Greece, you dont deserve any kindness.
I will never go on holiday in a country which has no basic regard for animals - what kind of humans must the countrymen be to allow this to happen!? In light of this latest ridiculous situation I will continue to spread the word and make people think twice about becoming tourists in Greece! Don’t underestimate the strength of word of mouth!

Es gibt große Probleme mit Straßenhunden und nicht gewollten privaten Hunden.Wir sehen es jeden Tag mit eigenden Augen. Unser Tierheim ist mehr als voll. WOHIN mit den Tieren? Wir versuchen mit dem Tierheim und Aufklärungsarbeit zu helfen. Eine vielzahl von griechischen Mitbürgern arbeiten bereits mít uns zusammen. Dieser Ansatzpunkt sollte nicht zerstört werden!

Since February 27th, 2005 58 former stray dogs belonging to the German animal welfare organisation Arche Noah Crete been illegaly detained by Greek autorities in Pireaus. The dogs were on their way to homes in Germany and Holland to families who had adopted them. Among the 58 dogs are mothers with small puppies. Arche Noah has no access to their dogs even though they are being detained in pounds at Arche Noah's cost. Every day - every hour - that passes by means unneeded suffering for these dogs...
We demand that the Greek authorities immediately hand over these dogs to their rightful owners: Arche Noah!

Die Griechen könnten den deutschen Tierschützern dankbar sein das diese sich so um die armen Kreaturen kümmern. Gebt die verschwundenen Papiere raus und laßt die Tiere ausreisen !!! When there are so many stray animals in Greece, let these dogs go being adopted by people who care. It is such a rare thing in Greece. I hope mentalities will improve in this "European" country. Change your image toward animals...!

here are Hendrik and Mattis. We are two german brothers, 10 and 12 years old. We have a little DOG-brother from Crete, Arche Noah. His name is NICO, 3 years old. We love him so much.
We wish the 58 other dogs in Athen that they have the possibility to get new owner families in Europe. So it`s necessary that they can go. Please!
This summer we wanted to go to Greece for summer holidays, but our family don`t want to have holidays in a country where animals don`t have rights and where is no justice.
All our friends are thinking in the same way.

It's just a shame!!! - What political interest could there be in letting creatures suffer for the incapability of humans? People with conscience MUST help if there is a creature in deep need - not regarding place or country! - So,clear your Concience, be the knight in shining armour and free the poor dogs from their "concentration camp". Give them a chance to live and to be loved! Let them leave your country!I beg you.
This is intolerable! There is absolutely no reason why these dogs should be incarcerated! The Greek government has nothing to gain by imprisoning these innocent creatures! They have homes waiting for them. I will boycott Greece and all Greek products until you treat your animals humanely.
There should be in the interest of the greek government to support the adopting! The Greek authorities have no reason to detain the dogs. Please give them free.
If these dogs were humans,detaining them from their families would be considered barbaric and intolerable! Dogs have feelings as well as a legitimate need to be placed A.S.A.P. with the loving homes waiting for them!
