Signatures #300 through #400 for the Free 58 confiscated dogs in Pireaus, Greece petition

I am a Greek citizen living in the US. This issue is so repugnant that I am embarrassed to be Greek. Let these poor dogs go to a better life. What can be gained from this?

Greece is a very nice country, but what they do with animals is not good. How is it possibble that in a country that's member of the EU, cats an dogs have a bad live? About the 58 dogs: I hope that the authorities let them go SSAP to Germany. But it would beter when all the animals should have a good future in Greece!

I hear so many terrible things that happen in Greece. What a shame as I certainly wouldn't want to visit Greece knowing there are so many atrocities happening there.

Deedee D. said 03/19/05, 4:30 am (verified)
Every time I hear about the atrocities in Greece, I am more and more clear about my desire never to travel there. My folks were planning a vacation to Greece with their friends, and when I told them this week about the way your country condones animal cruelty and neglect, they are now traveling elsewhere. Your country's lack of compassion and care for those who can't speak is truly an abomination. If you'd like to improve your image, I urge you to let the dogs go to their REAL homes OUTSIDE of your nasty country.

Officer M Witherell said 03/19/05, 4:17 am (verified)
A country is judged by how they treat their animals, Abraham Lincoln. This is why we in the US are not a third world country. Behavior like this sets examples to the rest of the world just how backwards you people really are!

"Greek authorities..." Are these authorities waiting for some kind of payoff? The greatness of a country, all countries, can be judged by its treatment of its animals. We did not miss the despicable and horrifying "clean-up" for the Olympics, which we did not watch. Nor will we, our friends and relatives, be touring Greece until changes are made in these matters. It is clear that your system is fully corrupt; because of that, innocent animals and the families who want the (you don't!) are suffering. Clearly, the history of Greece's treatment of animals is beyond gruesome. I have seen the pictures, the videos. Don't you have better ways to spend time? The energy, time and money expended to hold these animals could certainly be spent in making sure these animals reach a loving destination, something you have been unwilling to provide thus far. Please honor the reputation of your country by behaving as civilized persons, not as primitives. Allow these and other animals to be released, give your conscience a rest. Restore honor to your country.

Here we go again with your choas! Why don't you just give the poor animals to the people that they belong to and stop this nonsense. You are NOT treating these poor defenseless creatures in the right manner anyways, so just let people who have warm hearts and kind souls to have them!!!!!!

There is no reason for Greek Authorities in Pireaus to detain these poor dogs. They are a gift of God and should be allowed to be put in loving homes. They have a chance to do that now and you are stopping them. Please release these dogs now. What happened to the Greece that was the cradle of democrasy? If you would do that to these poor animals you will be doing it to people next. I will never set foot in your country and neither will any of my constituents if you continue to use these practices. Please release these dogs now and let them have a good life. Their lives are in your hands, don't add anymore guilt on top of the guilt you already have for the way you treat your animals! Release these dogs to go to their homes, even they will be happy to leave your country!
#363

Denise De Vynck said 03/19/05, 2:14 am (verified)
There is too much advance in science for your country not to sterilize all your dogs so you don't have to resort to such dangerous and inhumane killings of your overpopulation of dogs. Don't you know that children can be exposed to the poisons you put out for these dogs? How irresponsible.
#362

Ella Hampton said 03/19/05, 2:14 am (verified)
