I have a suggestion that would definitely get the economy moving:

Instead of giving all this money to the companies that caused this problem why not give it to the people suffering from their careless greed. I heard about an email that said (and I can not account for the accuracy because I have not found a statistic to do my own figures) that the $700 Billion bailout would break down to $250, 000.00 for each American over the age of 18. If you took that money and gave it to each citizen over that age of 18 I think you would see the economy turn around with a very short time. To most people I know this is a lot of money: poor and middle class who get this money would spend it and spend it fast.

• For me personally I would paid off my house and my truck which would in turn help recapitalize the mortgage and banking industry, then I would pay other bills that I owe which again would help the financial industry.
• I would take whatever was left divide it up, put some in savings and after all the bills were paid I would make this a Christmas to remember. In other words I would spend money which would boost the retail market.
• Those who didn’t need it for bills might invest in opening a business which would in turn create jobs reducing the unemployment rate.
• Some might take advantage of the low stock market prices and invest which would help the stock market improve.
• Others might use the money to purchase homes or that new car they couldn’t afford which would also reduce the strain on the mortgage and car industries.
• When people who don’t have that kind of money get it they spend it and everyone gets to enjoy the benefits.
• Not to mention people would be more able to give to charities, which means less money the government would have to put out.

I like to call it trickle up economics.
