We have to save yet another iconic part of Manchesters history from being turned into apartments, offices or some other god awful boring glass building.
We don't need anymore flats in Manchester. We need to preserve places like Afflecks which epitomise the heart of the city; innovation, being at the forefront of new trends, being something different. That's what makes Manchester Manchester and I don't want to lose that. The Northern Quarter is already turning into a Yuppie paradise for pretentious people Afflecks is real - keep it open.
I don't live in Manchester but I make regular trips there because Afflecks makes it stand out as a city with true diversity. Building more appartments in its place would be foolish, because there simply won't a market for them.
I only just realised what Affleck's palace is and so has my sister. Just because developers can't find space doesn't mean they should destroy a building that is essential to manchester's youths. It's getting out of hand. They need to back off cos at this rate nothing for the young people of manchester will be left.
You cant get rid of one of the best things about manchester..Aflecks set us apart from other cities and u can always get what ur looking for somewhere in there!!Leave it as it is..

The Northern 1/4 is being taken over by apartment blocks, it doesn't need any more. First the Corn Exchange, then the Coliseum, now this - what next!!
Afflecks is an institution! its a great tourist attraction too and somewhere to be visited on any visit to the city. It has its own culture attached to it and has to stay open.
The government and council are taking away everything alot of peoples childhood places are remembered by. As people have said it does make manchester... I think there are better places to make flats or shops or what have you!!!!
Terrible news- closing the quirkiest place in Manchester- it's part of Manchester's heritage, the Northern Quarter wouldn't be the same without it- and is another apartment/office block really necessary??!?!?
I'm in the north east but if I come to Manchester it's somewhere I go...
Don't put the rent up or close it - it'll go the same way as the Piece Hall in Halifax - a sorry loss
Please dont close afflecks... it made my summer in 2005 and 2006!!! It makes manchester different and makes people wanna come to manchester!!
theres enough flats/apartments, s**t buildings already!!! LEAVE OUR AFFLECKS ALONE! We love it!!!
it's like a souk, only in Manchester! they can't seriously be thinking about changing it an any way, especially not to make more multi coloured lego-brick flats they have in every other city, and if the rent does go up, what is the betting it'll be a starbucks that replaces it?
For God's sake leave Afflecks alone. There is more than enough development in the city centre. Leave the unique aspects be - or risk the death of the city's character.
