Its so sad, i think this petition is afflecks only hope, because the government are only concerned with making the area more "flat - friendly".
and making themselves lots of money in the process.

I remember when the colliseum was being shut down and people were gutted about that, but this, this would just take it too far. I get the whole price rising thing, but i genuinely dont think manchester would be the same without afflecks, its the symbol of like, thousands of teenager's lives! Spending hours in there trawling through the hundreds of posters in that poster shop - I found my ultra-rare Manics poster in there!!! It's the little things that make life better, and Afflecks is one of those - Let's hope Bruntwood or whatever they're called get their act together!
You can't close it. I grew up shopping there and now I've introduced my kids to it. Walking in it's like a different world, an escape. It should be treasured not distroyed.
This would rapidly destroy all small/moderate businesses in the Northern Quarter.Also bear in mind the majority of executive flats being built in Central Manchester & Salford are unoccupied,have insufficiant supporting social infrastructure & are owned by non-resident speculators.

if they are going to take away such a place of culture , they should create another space and not do what they did to the corn exchage . it was a shame to see that go and it would be the final nail in the coffin for all them independents! good look dudes

losing afflecks would be a huge blow to manchester in general. having been going there for 15 years and will be gutted if it disappears. you cant tell me, with the current trend of rock and/or metal, that they arent making enough money, the past 5 years i have never gone in there without it being heaving. please keep afflecks, a metal institution, alive.
If Affleck's is closed, then Manchester won't be Manchester anymore.
It's part of the culture of the city, it's known to many across the country and it'll just anger many people, including myself.

My mum && dad went to afflecks before i was born. Now we go together && have fun && buy awesome clothes &&i feel like we understand how we are with the clothes we wear and by taking away the one place all of my friends can shop for diferent styles in one place

Afflecks is an institution. Not only does it not make communal sense to close it, it doesn't make economic sense. Afflecks is a draw to many consumers from around the country. Its a niche market, but Afflecks has it down to a T. Manchester will be losing a MASSIVE consumer base if anything detrimental was to happen to it. I know a massive number of people who travel to Manchester just to visit Afflecks and they're from down south!
