Hey, umm council wants more money. Do they actually need it? Well afflecks is the centre of the Northern Quarter, you can't take a place of such importance away from people and not expect a backlash. Don't think we won't fight for it!!!
When will money grabbing councils and their ilk ever stop stop to think about the people that matter? Oh that's right they think it's THEM that matter so they are thinking about the people. :(

Afflecks is a place where anyone can go, heck even my mum likes it! It's completely different from anywhere else, something which completes the jigsaw and makes manchester what it is. my brother, and pple i kno who don't live in manchester really want to visit afflecks... give them the chance. Dont make the mistake of taking away somewhere that everyone loves coz you'll pay for it
Afflecks Palace can't shut its one of the most famous and popular buildings in Manchester its the heart and soul of the northern quater as well as symbol of manchesters cultural diversity. In short it ROCKS!!!
Affleck's can't be shut down! It's a landmark of Manchester! It's famous all over the country. Closing it down would be devasating. My youth would not have been complete without my saturday browse around Affleck's. Please Please Please Please Please dont's close it down :-( xxx

if afflecks is to close, the knock on affect will hit the whole of oldham street, all those shops that rely on people to visit, usually after they have been in afflecks will lose all that secondry foot traffick so this is about more than afflects its about saving a whole section of our thriving city
why are these corporations turning our citys into concrete jungles with these high rise apartments.yet again another thriving business is closing 'well not if we can keep it open'
i moved over here last year and it was blatantly apparent from the first time i went there that afflecks is a MASSIVE part of the youth and alternative culture of the city of manchester. too many wonderful enterprises and too many wonderful hubs of life go by the wayside care of greed and lack of vision, and, IF afflecks were to be materially changed i dread to think the kind of damage it would do to the cultural aspect of manchester. I strongly urge the owners not to destroy a thriving part of manchester's life for the sake of money. no good will come of it! we - the community - need afflecks to survive in order to keep surviving ourselves.
I cant see why they would want to shut afflecks down when it drags so many kids from all around the region into manchester. Give it a bit of a revamp, an image boost or something but DONT CLOSE IT DOWN!

We have so little places like Afflecks Palace in the north to support the goth/rock/metal subculture. Its ok for London and bigger cities, but what choice do we have here?
It supports local and independent traders as well as a thriving subculture. It would be so sad to see such a unique place shutdown.
