First it was the underground market on Brown Street, downstairs in The Royal Exchange went next, then The Coliseum, now it's Aff...STOP!!!! NO NEEED!!!!
Afflecks is one of the most interesting and unique things about Manchester theres no place like it, you can spend hours in there and there is always something new to look at. Keep it open!
This place is the only part of Manchester that remains a unique selling point, that differentiates it from all gradually commodified city zones, filled with MaccyD's. Afflecks is Manchester's Camden, we need it in order to remain a diverse city of culture...
people cum all over the uk n europe 2 witness afflecks for themselves, 2 close it wud b a massive blow for manchester and the the people who want the oppertunity 2 start a buiness of there own
To close Afflecks Palace would be a major blow ontodays growing society and culture. Councils need to stop thinking more development and sustaining what they have for each village, town, city, country to stay individual in it's own rights!
keeep it open! its so different than all the other boring shops
i go there every weekend to buy new clothes or whatever and if it closes it will be a great loss to people who prefer alternative clothing and accesories
KEEP IT OPEN!!!!!
I used to go all the time when I was younger, and the few times I have been recently have always left me feeling amazed and awed by the uniqueness of the place when contrasted with the brand-heavy, consumer-led town centre.
It would be a shame to lose such (to me anyway) an iconic part of manchester, and in a real sense a part of my youth.
The traders will suffer the most though, and I think it's they who should be considered first, way ahead of how much money you can make by building flats and lining your own pockets.
I feel that Manchester needs Afflecks Palace. It's the only place that sells EVERYTHING basically under one roof for the alternative crowd in Manchester. I travel to Afflecks to do shopping as find it's the best place to go.
we must not let this come to pass!!i bought some fantastical baggy purple cords(when i was in me teens) from afflecks.Power to the purplepeople who may need need their own scrummy trousers in the future.LET AFFLECKS lIVE!
Afflecks Palace needs to stay open. It gives Manchester something that is more important than bricks and mortar, shops and services. It gives Manchester an identity, a unique one at that. Without Affleck's Palace, Manchester is a step closer to this globalised hegemony. Each city is a carbon copy of each other, with the same chains populating and dominating, that's why we need a place that will stand as the anti-thesis to the homogeny that is taking over.
Keep Afflecks open, it is one of Manchester few remaining spaces that embraces the unique.
There'll be nothing to go to manchester for if they close Afflecks! You cant do it, its a mecca for all that is punk/metal/rock/etc!!! Would they close The Hajj in India? NO! So why close Afflecks Palace?
