KEEP AFFLECKS OPEN!! ITS THE ONLY COOL PLACE IN THE NORTH WEST TO SHOP, WITHOUT IT, WE ARE STUCK IN A WORLD OF PRIMARK AND TOPSHOP! EVERYONE WILL LOOK THE SAMEEEEE.PLEASE KEEP IT!!! BEST PLACE IN THE WORLDDD. THUNDEREGG =BEST SHOP AROUND x
Afflecks is as part of Manchetser's history as the hacienda...now that went a long time ago never to return-don't let afflecks go the same way. on a slightly selfish note-some of us are not sheep and do not wish to look like Primark carbon copies or 'Topshop' girls. God forbid. Long live Afflecks Xxx
Afflecks is one of the only alternative haven left within Manchester. You may be able to count Urbis, but, that has too become over-run with emos. Afflecks may have a large following of emos, but, there are a few of us that are not emo, yet, still love Afflecks. I don't want to have to go too far for my Cyber-Dog.
how can they close it its the best shopping place in the world its full of great bargins great people and great clothes if they try to close it im tellin u now there will be some pretty angry moshas emos goths altenativs even some chavs
Afflecks is that heart that keeps the northern quarter beating. It allows young and alternative designers gain the recognition and following they truly deserve (Red or Dead anyone!)
Please help keep Manchester the beautiful and strange city it is by keeping Afflecks open!
Afflecks is the most original and alternative place to shop in Manchester. It's one of the reasons I go into Manchester as often as possible. Closing it will only benefit the more affluent in society who can afford to live in the proposed flats but Afflecks has benefitted a range of people by helping them gain an identity through the often unique clothes and accessories.
Don't close Afflecks Palace, that would just be a really stupid thing to do! What a silly SILLY idea, whos ever idea this was!
KEEP IT OPEN.....I don't do H&M!
If Afflecks closed it would be a tragedy. It's been such massive part of so many people's lives. Where else will the teenagers who are looking to "rebel" against the mainstream culture go to buy their band posters, get coloured extensions put in, get pierced and buy goth clothes?!
To get rid of it would be to get rid of people's fond memories and the only real alternative shopping in Manchester.
I don't Go there anymore. When I was a kid I used to go there and going there helped me become who i am today, alot of kids are goin through that now. Im 21 Now. It would be a shame to see it go.
If Afflecks Palace disappears, then Manchester loses out. People come to the city just to shop there. It's always been an exciting place to shop, meet with friends, etc. The Corn Exchange died when it was bombed, and the rebuild just hasn't been the same.
Manchester should look to London and be led by example - Camden town has undergone a period of expansion over the last few years, and is heavingly busy and exciting.
PLEASE, DON'T SELL OUT!
I LOVE AFFLECKS MY GF DOES C'MON I SPEND ABOUT £200 A MONTH THIER ITS THE HEART AND SOLE OF THE MOSH,GOTH,EMO AND ALTERNATIVE SCENE DON'T SHUT THE PLACE DOWN WE'LL ALL MISS IT AND THEN WE WON'T HAVE NO WER TO GET OUR STUFF FROM AND MAIL ODER IS EXPENSIVE C'MON LET IT STAY OPEN!!!!
stopthe place from closing it rocks ive been going there since i was 6 its a part of me now and its apart of every 1 else it wud simple damage the community if it were to shut down
Afflecks is a staple of Manchester. Removing it would be like removing a major organ. Even without a trip inside to meet the wonderful community that work and shop there, it's a beautiful and unique place. I never thought that it would ever be considered to replace Afflecks, especially for flats.
Save Afflecks.
I and the other adoring fans of Afflecks won't only be missin out on the closure of this great shop, but it brings so many people to that part of machester it will be devistating for the surrounding shops, bringing them out of buisness. Manchester without Afflecks is like a fish without a bicycle
Lets face it, another nail in the coffin. I live in Manchester for reasons that are quickly ceasing to exist. People with soul will leave rather than sit and watch Manchester's being sucked out. Everybody knows that Afflecks' closure will damage real people's lives but not everybody cares - it'll take more than a petition to stop them. Who's up for a real fight for what's right?
As stated by the thousands of petitioners before me, Afflecks Palace is the strangest but most appealing building and shopping 'centre' in Manchester and maybe even the world. I am pretty new to its whole different arty world, a world that spills out onto the streets of manchester in the form of sculptures, works of art and even those fantastic iron flower street lights. Closing a place such as this would be ludricous and another sign that all people value is money without regard for the damages caused by getting it. Keep Afflecks open or suffer the consequence of losing tourism and the respect of many generations of art lovers, shoppers and quirky groups.
NO visit, no matter how brief (and I can attest to this personally) to Manchester, is complete without a pilgrimage to Afflecks Palace. It is part of what makes Manchester unique and not "just another English city". There is no place else like it in any city I've been to: London, New York, Chicago, Edinburough, Phoenix, Toronto (all with great, quirky uniquenesses) cannot boast of this particular quirky draw. Without it to visit, I would seriously have to re-think any travel plans that would take me to Manchester.
afflekcs shouldnt close i read on the offficial myspace nthat it isnt closing but im not sure, but im posting him the link to this site. afflecks is amazing dont close it!
I travel to Afflecks Palace regularly from CUMBRIA!
This is not an easy journey but i feel its worth it to shop somewhere which sells merchandise i am actually interested in. My friends in this area also shop there monthly at least.
Afflecks is part of Manchester and its alternative scene, to close it would make Manchester a city of closed mind clones
Noooo... ive just herd the terrible news!!!!
i was going to go manchester today but the weather to bad!!!
but i so hope aflex doesnt get shut down i love that place its a part of manchester!!!
some one probably already said it but "... and on the sixth day, god created MANchester"
aflexs cant leave it!!! else all the chav stores will over run it!!!
urbis will probably die aswell.... it means a failure of sales on a whole.. NOOOO its cant shut down!!!
what are you actualy planning on doing with this petition like show it to bruntwoods or sumthing?
besides dont they relise that barely anyone is going to buy those flats either because they loved afflecks or because everyone who loved afflecks will be really annoyed wth them
This is a demonstration of the depravity and sheer business mind of a company which doesent give a damn about culture/people.
You cant close Afflecks, it provides a bastion to the alternative culture within Manchester, the damage closing Afflecks will do cannot be underestimated.
WTF?! Close Afflecks??
They must be mad!
Where will people shop
If Afflecks closes down there will be literally NO places to shop!
Flats are ugly, pointless and take up VALUABLE space. Where will all the alternates get there clothes from?!?!?
NOWHERE!
What the hell?! You can't close Aflecks! Where will people shop? Where will all the alternative people in Manchester get... "alternative" things. This really is a stupid idea. Plus, we don't need more flats. Flats are ugly, and useless...
you cant get rid of afflecks! its the only place near here i look forward to going! do you REALLY want more kids terorising the street? which is most likely going to happen if you get rid of another one of our favourite places!
DONT. PLEASE. DONT.
afflecks is like the main thing in manchester for anyone who isn't a chav. Half the people i know only go to manchester to go to afflecks, what the hell are we gonna do on a saturday now? go to manchester and sit in some feild we call urbis? NO THANKS! I'd rather go shopping and take a look around. manchester will be awful without it, i really would advise you to reconsider.
DO A PROTEST, WITH SIGNS AND EVERYTHING :D
ahahahaha
