the same thing happened to quiggins in liverpool but that took years. n they have a new one now. not the same though.

These corperate firms are just greedy. They seem to suck all the culture, tradition and diversity out of everything. Theres loads of places in Manchester that have been replaced by offices or flats. It's just sad. I'm not saying I don't agree with progress but Afflecks should'nt be one of these places. Please don't let them do this to Afflecks!!!
Getting rid of Afflecks would be the craziest idea ever! Afflecks is like home to people like us, it's a place that represents individuality and it would be a sin to get rid of it. We need places like this!!!
Don't let avarice close this wonderful, open-minded gem in the heart of Manchester. It's 1 of the reasons I moved here & now my daughter is a regular visitor .
The Northern Quarter is a vibrant, diverse area, and a big part of the reason for this is Afflecks Palace. You can build flats anywhere, let's keep the diversity going!
DONT EVER CLOSE AFFLECKS. Losing Afflecks would mean degrading manchester of its identity.
Maybe set up a myspace about this and get everyone in Manchester added to it
It simply would not be in your best interest to close the only place in Manchester I enjoy shopping at... sure I get my food from morrisons, but if I could get it from Afflecks then I would (besides the awesome sausage barms from the cafe that is heh...) Go knock down a fucking trendy club and leave the alt types alone! :D

People travel from everywhere to get here - I have a two hour bus journey to make just to get there but it is definatly worth it to get all of the amazing things you canny buy anywhere else!! Please don't shut Afflecks!

It's funny, i was actually thinking earlier today, before i heard about this, that manchester is a pretty depressing place... there's nothing special about it, but then i thought of afflecks and the northern quarter :) They rule, and then they're gonna just get rid? For what, money? This country has gone mental... quiggins, the coliseum and now afflecks *shakes head*

Its one of the most fantastic places in manchester. I wouldnt mind but you even get chanvs and scallies shopping in there!

It's one of the few things remaining that makes manchester what it is...without places like Afflecks, it's just gonna be another plain grey city, full of plain shops...reeking of conformaity and unoriginality.

Afflecks is a legend of a place to me and all my friends. It's always the first place we go when in Manchester.
Gutted if it closes, i don't know any other places like it.
afflecks palace is my spritual home! i've fallen in love there and broken up there and spent nearly every weekend for the past five years there. Closing afflecks will be destroying a little part of my soul.

I agree with the girl above me. Nearly 3500 people have signed this patition why shows houw much afflecks is loved.
And Afflecks isnt just a shop loved by the younger generations, parents and even grandparents have been to this shop recently AND years ago when they were younger.
It isnt a shop anyone can just get rid of. Its ace, and people from all over the country go there just to shop and see the culture.
Shops such as Quiggens can NOT beat Afflecks. Afflecks is one of those places youd like to take YOUR kid when your older, like my parents, and many others.
Keep Afflecks open, for everyones sake.

Keep Afflecks open! Its the only place where you can anything that isn't a copy of topshop! Many small businesses have made their home there - surely we should be encouraging this, not putting them out of business!
