do NOT close afflecks :) even though i've only been once. it's an amazing place, and all i've been doing since my last visit is saving up for it again! DONT close it down :)
When are people going to realise that there are some things more important than money? Where can unique, quirky, independent shops afford to go if this is shut down? No where. Independent shops are so important, not everyone wants to look the same, not everyone wants to shop at places where cheap labour is used, many people still want CRAFTMANSHIP. The loss of Afflecks would be a tragedy
Afflecks is a draw for people from other cities who spend tourism income throughout Manchester. To close it would be socially insulting and econimacaly stupid!
yet another narrow minded property development looming over an individual and exciting place.
keep this place alive, its waht keeps manchester, MANCHESTER!!HANDS OFF!!
Dont close Afflecks! The place is the best around for all my modding gear, where else can i buy 1 get 1 free on jewelry or look at all the weird kids? Dont turn it into a friggin' 'hug a hoodie' place!
I can't believe anyone is thinking about closing affleck's. It's such a unique and fun place, it's awful to think it could be become a block of flats or something much worse. We REALLY REALLY need to fight to keep affleck's open. Please, please do NOT shut down afflecks, it would be a huge loss to the people of manchester plus all the tourists who visit, purely to experience affleck's in all its freakishly funky fucked-up glory.
Close afflecks are you stark raving mad ?? take away somewhere so integral to the heart of the city and youl lose its culture and its heart. i spent so many of my saturdays there when i was a teenager its just wrong!
yeah great close afflecks.infact why not just make a compulsory uniform for evryone in manchester to wear-maybe something from new look or primark?and why dont we turn every building in manchester into flats-its just what we need-'theres such a lack of pea sized over priced 'apartments'.A diverse, original shopping experience that attracts thousands of tourists to the area, allows new designers to flourish and provides a variety of fascinating goodies to both young and old mancs is so last year.
has everybody lost their mind? afflecks is a landmark.
what the hell! y is there any need y dont u close a chav shop.I go every sat wit my mates and ocasionli my mum every1 ses it's the best place in manchester and U r wantin it gone.
Im not going to beg to keep it open I AM WARNING YOU DONT U FUKIN DARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DON'T CLOSE AFFLECKS!! please. don't. its so unique and original, and ALOT of people i know love that place! thats the whole reason people go to Manchester! it's what i look forward to. it has amazing wonderful things that all teenagers love. please don't close Afflecks.
You Cant lose Aflects .. its the place that most people feel comfortable in and that we all love. If you close aflects then no one and i repeat noone will go there thats what i assure you! Me and My friends will refuse to go there for you will lose a lot off money ... keep aflects open or good bye Manchester
I am now in my 50s and have been going to Afflecks for years as have my daughters who still go there love the place and atmosphere shut Afflecks and Manchester is dead
This is exactly the sort of place that makes a cirt stand apart from others. It is part of manchester's cultural identity and those in authority in the city should realize that it is places like Afflecks that keep Manchester's vibe alive, and draws people from all over the world. Wipr those greedy pound signs from your eyes!!!
Afflecks is not just a shopping mall. It is an institution and an identity.
We have already seen the Corn Exchange lose it`s originality after the bomb. It is now as faceless and as characterless as all the other high street stores. Afflecks actually brings people into Manchester!
Looking at estate agents websites there are hundreds of flats in the city centre still empty up for rent or for sale. Why add to that?
I have friends down in London who r jelious coz we in Manchester hav Afflecks.
If Afflecks closes a part of the heart of Manchester will close. Me and my friends hav grow up with Afflecks, it's where we buy r cloths from (and my mum even buy her Jewellery from Afflecks coz it all unique and me and my mum like unique stuff).
Afflecks is not just a place with shops in it, it's a place where art work can be show, it's a place where it brings people together.
I tell u this when I was told i had to do an art project on Manchester guess wot I chose for my inperation, that's right Afflecks.
Well I could go on for ever with this but I'll leave it at this, for now!!!
Landmark and inspiration. It's a creative hub in the city and the platform for many a good mind and idea don't cut it dead for the sake of a few bob! You'd be killing the heart of the northern quarter. It would be idiotic and lazy not to keep Afflecks going?
Manchester without Afflecks, I think not, Keep Afflecks a part of Manchester, I have been buying from this amazing place for well over 15 years.Beats the hell out of Miss Selfridges, Next etc and all those lookie likey each other shops,
It is totally stupid shutting afflecks palace, because we alternative people have absolutely nowhere else to buy clothes n things from. There are many shops in manchester that suit everybody else, why make more? and there are loads n loads of appartments in the city centre, why make more? please just leave us one place to shop and stay alternative!!!
people come from all over the world, country to see manchester and afflecks is a huge part of its culture, please dont close it down!
LET AFFLECKS STAY!! it is a huge art deco landmark and venue for original merchandise. Huge catastrophy to many around the country if this magnificent palace goes. TAlso think of the tourism and income it brings to the city!
Afflecks palace is an original place where alternative people can go and shop, meet up and generally have a good time. Where else is left once Afflecks is gone? Nowhere! They took the Coliseum now they're trying to take Afflecks - well I say NO!!! Leave us one place at least, otherwise it'll be a city full of chavs and scallies because we won't be able to buy our alternative products anywhere in Manchester!
its is part of cultural Manchester and should definatly stay. Where else do you find such an ecclectic moiz of shopping under one roof - definatly not in the Arndale. There are plenty of appartments throughout Manchester too, is there really any need for any more?
I love Afflecks so much. It's an amazing alternative shop offering a wide range of fantastic products and goods for people of any age! QUIGGINS was shut down in Liverpool! Lets keep Afflecks open!! m/
my grandma used to work their when it was afflec and browns. ive allready told all my friends that so i thought i might as well put it up on tinterweb 2. not that its any good, but yeh =. oh and dont shut it down =]

If you close Afflecks you'll be losing the majority of the people who shop at Manchester, because it's one of the most unique and individual places that caters for alternative fashion. Not only will we be losing a land-mark for the fashion and music industry, but the rest of the businesses in Manchester will be severly disabled becuase they will be losing possible shoppers. Don't close it down, we need Afflecks!
you cant close afflecks...its a way of life, my friends and i go everytime were in manchester, its where i bought my leavers dress from, and where i intend on buying my next leaqvers dress from...theres plenty of room in manchester for flats n other shizz, but ther isnt another place in england like afflecks
no ! don't close it, its a part of manchester, where else am i going to get my belts and buckles and presents from? its like a world of its own away from chavs =]]]]]]] oh yes, i dont think it could be replaced by anything better tbh
don't close it
because it's the only place I can think of where I can buy beads, bags and stuff for mothers day without breaking the bank.
who needs flats in themiddle of manchster anyway?
try converting some of the waste land.
If it closes, then i dont know what i will do. Every trip into manchester for me includes a visit. You just cannot close it, or increase the rent to make more profit.
where else am i going to go in manchester where I can actually spend the entire day in just one building?Afflecks is the one place I could never live without.Just don't do it Save Afflecks.
Affleck's is a unique part of Manchester and is a brilliant place for alternative shopping, something which makes manchester stand out amongst other cities. Please help save it!!
12 years ago in manchester the places for alternative shopping were the corn exchange (now the triangle), the coliseum (now being turned into flats or offices i believe) and afflecks palace (which people are planning to turn into yet more flats)...
Ever get the feeling that anything interesting that differenciates cities from each other is dying? Don't make Manchester exactly the same as every other city in the country!
After discovering Affleck's Palace at the tender age of 13 i have been a devoted customer for 6 years now, it has changed alot over the years, and to shut it down would be a crime against individuality. Give people the chance to express themselves by keeping diverse shops such as Affleck's open, we've already lost The Colesseum - what next?
