Afflecks must be kept open - it's unique in Manchester and one of the things that gives Mcr its character. Too many of these things are being taken away from us Mancunians and the Mancunians to come.
Original, unique independant, non commercial, Legendary, There is no other space or provision like it in Manchester anymore. The underground market is gone (remember that?!?), the new arndale market is as it is. This is bastion of Manchesters Cultural History past & present. To let "Corporate Manchester" erase it would be crime against Mancunians
DONT CLOSE AFFLECKS. Please.
It's like my second home!
I go there every saturday... and if you close it, then we'll all stay at home. Which will suck... becuase manchester will look crappy and empty.
Afflecks is like the heart of Manchester. Close it, and we'll all be dead.
you cant close afflecks, its funny to watch chavs standing outside plucking up their courage to go in! and everytime you go you find a new shop, its all good!
Afleck's Palace is an institution! Take this away and you take away a piece of Manchester's cultural history! We already lost the hacienda to apartments... let's not do it again.
Some of my fondest teenage memories from growing up in Manc was tea at the top of affflecks. Despite getting asked at least 15 times on my way in if I would "Buy the big issue" I was always sure to find something refreshing at Afflecks palace.
please don't close one of the best things in manchester, it was a big inspiration to me growing through my teenage years and for my mum when she was younger as well, closing it would be criminal
Manchester will be a much poorer place without it - I took my daughter round there today; she is probably a little young at 10 to appreciate it fully, but I want her to be able to say she had been if it does close.
We already have a city full of empty appartments where investors just want to make money we don't need any more! Loosing Afflecks will turn Manchester into just another redeveloped city with no unique shops, no real individuality and just a load of identikit topshop princesses swanning around and getting in everyones way. Boo :-(
it would be stupid to close this place and build evn more flat. manchester would loose not only the shops in there but also the building its self, i think Aflecks has become a landmark now !
afflecks palace was instrumental to introducing me to alternative culture. it was a mecca in my youth and a fond reminise when i visit nowadays. with the way manchester is going now, the loss of afflecks would almost surely be the end for the prevelance of alternative culture in manchester. sure, now it serves a predominantly emo/mosher crowd which may not be the best, but how anyone can oppose what it stands for is beyond me. long live afflecks!
Keep Afflecks Palace open!!
It is a valuable part of or city's culture and sosciety and it is a piece of history that we xcould not afford to lose, and many other people (Predominantly people in the 'alternative' genre). thank you
Afflecks is a huge part of what makes Manchester such a vibrant city. plus so NO to the move towards identicities wherever you are in the country. Please re-consider. Do we really need another block of flats? Or do we need to be proud of the diversity that Manchester is known and respected for?
KEEP IT OPEN!!!!!
Shall we run a sweep that if they don't and it becomes yet ANOTHER block of flates they'll name it something shite like The Aflecks Apartments. Booooooo!!!!!
no need to knock it down for more flats for forigners to move into, what bout us!! there is enough housing and land to build on!! afflecks palace is a land mark accross the uk so why destroy a good memorial!! would u take down the peel statue in bury town center?... no u wuldn't so why knock down something that probly has more memories and more future!! all u guys ever think of is money well there is a well known saying 'money doesn't make happiness!!' AFFLECKS PALACE DOES!! so dont knock it down!!
afflecks is one of the main reasons why i go to manchester and that prob goes the same for other ppl as well. keep it open else manchester will loose alot of buisness from the younger crowd coz they will be going else where to shop!!
Don't throw away the character and individualism of a place like this just to replace it with a nother boring block of flats which add nothing to the city centre. Its places like this which keep a city interesting.
Afflecks has been a part of the alt scene in Manchester for years - I go my first leather jacket from there and still visit when possible. Closing Afflecks to produce yet more appartments for the minority of people who can afford them won't increase footfall in Manchester but Afflecks does as it *is* a tourist attraction.
Afflecks Palace has been part of the Manchester alternative scene for years for the simple reason that it was needed and wanted by those who are part of the scene. that scene still exists and long may it, and Afflecks continue to do so!
Although I don't shop there as much nowadays, Afflecks was a big part of my teenage years and it would be a shame to deny todays youth this original, inspiring and fun place to hang out/ shop. Its true that Afflecks is part of Manchesters identity.
