manchester, manchester, manchester! home to all things unique, joy division, hacienda, many an intoxicated night in picadilly gardens...basically manchester has very special placen in my heart. and in that place is afflecks palace...you cannot get rid of it! u just cant! and even if u do itll still have a special place in my heart..
save the manchester heretidge!!!!
Afflecks has gotta be one of the defining points of Manchester. So sad that may influential places such as the hacienda and factory records building aren't around or no longer in use. Please dont end up turning this place into some crappy upmarket apartments where all the poncy people who arent even from manchester and just live there because it is'cool. SAVE AFFLEKS. SAVE OUR CITY!!!!
nooooo afflecks cant get shut down.. its the funkiest place in town to get clothes and the night club is the best!!!!! omg dont close it down.. how dare u!!
I haven't been in Manchester for two years and I still think about Afflecks Palace and wish there was something like that in Canada, now it wont even be in Manchester.
It's a shame but this petition isn't going to make any difference. As a lifelong Manc whose spent many a day around Oldham St and Afflecks I wholly sympathise with all the comments here, but our Labour Council have become nothing but corporate whores and they no longer want Mancs in Manchester. Read The Salford Star's article on Tom Bloxham and how he has become a millionaire using public money to make 'affordable' housing for local people, only to use it to make a fortune building flats, houses and offices for the well-to-do (and the Queen gave him a knighthood!). He owns Afflecks and he can do what he wants with it - so he will! I'll miss the place, but by then I don't think I'll be living in here - if I wanted to live in London I'd go to the original, not the New London that Manchester is slowly becoming.
As much as I think some stalls are over priced (yes, I'm aware that the rock seem is mostly middle class and that the stall holders need to make money), Manchester was a place that I adored in my teen years and Afflecks is something which makes it unique.
I'm studying in London now and I love it, but the rock scene down here... Or at least what I have come across so far is not a patch to that in Manchester. Even Camden can be really annoying and expensive!
What is scarier is the homoginisation of our towns and cities. If you want Manchester to remain unique, as some people have said then boycott Starbucks, don't eat at Burger King or Subway because it's our consumerism which is killing our country and creating clone towns. I am deadly serious when I write this.
I wish you all the best.

I went to Manchester three times last year and all of which included a visit to Affleks. We alway's make sure we manage to fit it in no matter what our other plans are. It would be a shame to see it go.
please dont let it go its the only place in manchester that is different and doesnt conform to all societies ways i love going here for something different and things that you not find in normal shops it must stay!
Ok so the owner wants to make more money...no shock there then. The state of the City, the individuality that makes Manchester not just "a city" but THE City of the NW means that some other alternative must be made available...how about getting a co-op together and buying the owner out?
we love afflecks yeh.
i kill myself man if it close down. in jamaican
MARiiELmurder&CURTiisMassacre in form ;D waitin for school to close cos its burrriiiinnnggga.
People from all over the country come to Manchester and go out of their way to visit Afflecks. It is a tourist atraction as well as a brilliant place to shop. I would prefer they shut the Trafford centre. If it is closed the world will be a bit more bland. Please keep it open.
Keep Afflecks Palace open, it's a people place, it's unique, Manchester is made by the people for the people. Afflecks is where you can express yourself, other cities would pay a fortune for the concept. Manchester people made it, keep it, it's priceless.
if they close this place down, and replace it with luxury flats (with luxury price tags i am sure!!!) amnchester will just become one step closer to bein another "identi-city".
ie: can anyone actually tell the differnce between citys anymore? all the unique features are gettin pulled down and replaced with top shops, hmv's, H&M's, food courts, luxury flats etc. keep it!
How dare they even consider closing it down, its a part of manchester as much and anything else, theres gonna be alot of pissed of goths, u ever pissed of a goth, not pretty, be on your hands when they summon plagues upon the people who brught about afflecks end
Afflecks is part of the Northern Quarter's character which in turn is a part of Manchester. It is important that places like Afflecks exist for the alternative crowd.
not more "luxury flats", luxury like soap maybe? yeah, 2 quid and that's luxury. take your flats and your sales speak and let people actually use a building for something other than "luxury" bullshit. I've been to Afflecks many times, and although I've barely bought anythint from it, everyone seems to own something from it. please let it be what it is, a shopping center. If everywhere became "luxury flats" where would every one shop? at each other's "luxury flats"?
not been there for years, but just knowing it's there helps to remind me that manchester hasn't become completely bland and corporate. please don't let that happen.
omg, no, keep afflecks
i dnt live witout it innit
i will go on a killing spree if it closes o:
well no, but gahhh
we need it! we need to alot!
my god!
xx
Is this part of some plan to close down all the really interesting places in the city, and reduce everything to dull, bland, low-cost, easy-to-paint, high rent units? For once, show us you have souls, and leave Afflecks alone!
NOO!!! I love manchester & everytime i come down its never a comlete trip until i go to afflecks!!! its such an amazing place &&& all the hot alternative guys go thurr, hell If you dont keep it open from the clothes...keep it open for the lads!!!
