The reason people want to live in city centres anyway is because of places like Afflecks. To get rid of this institution to make way for flats just doesn't make sense!
what can i say, i am from hudddersfield, and afflecks palace is THE reason i go to manchester every week!!! SHUT THIS GEM OF A SHOP down, you will DESTROY a piece of culture, as AFFLECKS is an amazing place.!!!!!!
So often we see alternative venues tarted up, the rates are hiked up so the original people are driven out and the place is left derelict and deserted. Learn from previous mistakes and leave well alone.
Yep, Afflecks is the best place to be in Manchester when you want to buy clothes, fetish wear, shoes, presents or sit in the Top Cafe with a HUGE Hot Chocolate and Marshmallows. This alone is reason enough for Afflecks to enjoy a new lease of life! :)
It's just the most fun place to walk around and have a look and a source of everything a little bit different for those of us who don't want to live in Topshop.
I love the afflecks and I doubt anything else could replace it. The choice of clothes is amazing and even when you're broke just walking around makes you smile.
Best shops ever - something original and not massly consumerised high street. Support culture and individualism. Support Afflecks, and they pierce me. I like it.

This shop is the best in the world and it has all my needs, the clothes I wear are slightly hard to find 1st time I came in I was shocked it was like heaven you don't need anymore flats there is enough please dont take it away from us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Afflecks Palace is an iconic part of Manchester's great heritage and it would be a tragedy to see it close or be diluted by an increase in rents. Manchester's youth and culture needs places like Afflecks.Long live Diversity, Difference and Independents!!
No! Don't close it! I'm sure there are much better places to put some crummy apartments, but to eliminate a major part of Manchester would be barbaric.
Dont dare take this place from us, i have hgad enough of these poxy apartment blocks and whatever else taking over landmarks of manchester at least let us keep something of the past that we all still love i still shop there and always will!!!!!!
Afflecks is an essential part of any visit to Manchester. If it gors where will I get my teen culture. I am an old lady of 54 who just loves the place.

Loosing Afflacks would be a very sad loss, it's the last hold that small independents can have a business & be creative,with affordable rent, we need creative individulas to keep the city alive, which gives Manchester its unique edge. It's sad, that it's a Northern business man raping the city! Manchester City Council have a lot to do with the distruction of this city also, allowing London property developers to come along & build cheap VERY BAD!!! architecture.

For god's sake ...! Is nothing sacred? Why not plough what little remains of this city's character and soul into the ground, then build another 'mixed use' development on top ... seriously, why not turn the Town Hall into an NCP and be done with it.
