Look at the demand for Affleck's to stay open, listen to what the public want, not everyone wants to buy cloned high-street replications of catwalk trends. Unique shopping communities bring far more character and appeal to a city centre than more flats.
Affleck's palace brings business to manchester and surrounding areas...if you can't find it anywhere else, you're sure to find it in Affleck's thus securing a positive cultural link. It's like a mini-glasto craft and clothing tents but all year round! and you want to close this down why?!
Afflecks must stay. It's a vital incubator of ideas and new businesses and an iconic part of Manchester. Flats and chains add nothing of cultural value – Afflecks and similar places offer so much more.
Afflecks is a PALACE with it's multicultural gems. This place is shown from generation to generation. I remember my mum taking me there as a child and I was amazed by the mixture of people and shops. Afflex is for everyone and your not judged! Keep this only lasting soulful place in Manchester alive.
Afflecks is unique. It must stay and not be demolished to make way for more lego box apartments by a profiteering company. I am sick of city centre shopping being all the same all over the country and not catering for those daring to look different from the hooded clones that are everywhere !
Afflecks closing will rip the heart out of manchesters alternative/ youth culture. This place helped to put Manchester on the map in the late 80's and early 90's and is a mecca for anyone visiting manchester.
Anything to do with subculture appears to be frowned upon in today's socirty, thought it was all about being unique. If Afflecks closes Manchester will turn into yet another clone town with all it's desinger shops. Where are we supposed to get our clothes and meet other alternative types in Manchester?
so someone wants to close the last 'real' 'shop' in manchester... how utterly boring... until we live in a generic society where everything is the same some people really will not be happy >=Y
id rather not be a topshop sheep thanks
quiggings has gone which is a git but u cant take afflecks its such a stange place its a piece of british culture
I first started shopping at Afflecks about 20 years ago. I've sinced moved to Cumbria and still travel to shop there. It's unique. Stop messin' with people's livelihoods and keep it open.
I adore Affleck's Palace and when I visited Manchester last year I spent nearly half of my time there.
How can they even consider closing this unique place ?
Afflecks has supported many youth cultures, and I would hope it would always remain that way! Why does it have to change now as Afflecks has taken the rough with the smooth all through the N4 regeneration!
If you get rid of places like Afflecks no one will want to live in the city centre anyway. The idea of yet another half empty block of flats replacing a cultural icon of Manchester is truly shameful.
Afflecks is a part of Mancunian culture - a flagship for the Northern Quarter. Perhaps the shops could be improved a bit these days but PLEASE don't give up on it! Keep Afflecks open!
Keep Afflecks open! Where else will the alternative teenagers have to go? I'm from Leicester an'all and the Silver Arcade was our world at that age. Don't let Manchester lose the last few patches of independent life it's still got.
My god they are whores damn it. Again these greasy monkeys want to turn what culture we have into modern junk. I,m from leicester and we used to have a place called the silver arcade, always in there cool shops, loads of character. For similar reasons they closed it down. Now for afflecks palace. I have been there quite a few times and i love it. It cannot go. If it does it will remain closed for sometime meanwhile a haven for junkies and bad press.
Afflecks palace has to stay, its part of the heart mancunian culture and part of mancunian history. itd be insane to get rid of it. IT HAS TO STAY!!!! simple as that!!!!!
