this iss a great place and it's one of a kind and encourages origionality! i know loads of people that work there as well that would be out of a job!! do not close it down!!!!!!!!!!!!
Manchester is beginning to lose all of its charachter. Don't make us lose Afflecks- another important contributer to Manchester's culture that is appreciated nationwide.
Some of my best friends work at Affleck's Palace. It's the last remaining vestige of the Bohemian atmosphere that started the Northern Quarter property boom in the first place. Have a heart, Bruntwood!!
Cities all over the country are turning into clones. HMVs, Tescos and Starbucks on every corner. Afflecks is one of the last true independent places that supports the local people and businesses of Manchester.
You cant close Afflecks to turn it into crappy flats, theres plenty of them in the world, and only one Afflecks. If it closes there will be many angry people in the world who'll do something about it! Including me!
WHERE ELSE ARE WE SUPPOSED TO SHOP IF WE DONT HAVE AFFLECKS!!
some damn awesome people in there.
its a community in itself!!!
we dont want silly flats!!
Where would my daughter go with all her mates on saturdays!
Besides where would all those kids who hang around the urbis go!!
I used to shop there when i was younger as well :|
You cant close a place of history just to build some ugly hi rise flatblocks for aresholes to lock themselves up in or trendy bachollers to be arsefaces in.
Afflecks is a piece of history in manchester and should stay open for years to come, those fat cats and there building plans dont care about the heratige or what the people think, they just want more money into there greedy paws, so they can call it an informed business desicion and make it all seem right.
Weve already lost the colloseuum to them were not going to loose this.
I remember going to NewYork in 1990 and someone asked me (knowing I was from Manchester) if I'd got my Stone Roses t-shirt from Afflecks (I had).Known all over the world-it has to stay. It is part of what Manchester is about.
This is as much a part of Manchester's Heritage as all the old fancy buildings. We don't need another clothes' shop, we don't need another department store. We do need some character. This building has it. Keep it.
They can't close Afflecks! It is one of the little pieces of identity and history we have left. Culture is being wiped our with brand names and a saturated, copycat society, and, without Afflecks, Manchester is 'just another sold-out city.'
bruntwood, you yuppie fucks. keep afflecks open, you patrick bateman bastards. brand identity is the only identity you know. try growing some fucking balls instead of saturating the city in call centres and shit.
I shopped in Afflecks over 20 years ago, it was a central part of youth then as it is today. To close such an iconic part of the city is to lose part of Manchester's history. Can we afford to lose itanymore to 'luxury flats'
I am now age 43 and have been a regular visitor to Afflecks since being 16. It is a centre where different cultures and races shop peacefully side by side showing respect for their trades and also remembering styles of times gone by. Afflecks gives character to a shopping experience that otherwise would be just like any other city. Sort out your priorities and realise what an asset Afflecks is to Manchester not make it into another ugly reidential eyesore!!!
You cannot do this!
Afflecks is one of Manchester's cultural icons, just like it's gothic town hall, the smiths, manchester united, the hacienda (oh yeah the bastards with guns and drugs destroyed that one!)...YOU SHOULD NOT ALLOW THIS TO HAPPEN!!!!
luv you afflecks.dont leave. my aunty linda is 61 years old and she used to go to afflecks when she was 19. so do not move as we will NOT be happy chicken
Afflecks Palace is and always has been an important part of Manchester. We don't need any more apartments in Manchester, no one is buying the ones already built!!! Let Afflecks remain an important part of our youth culture. It was for me and I hope that it remains so for generations to come.
Afflecks is a major part of Manchester's identity and it CANNOT be lost. It has played a pivitol important role in Manchester's cultural history. I would rather we knocked down the town hall than lost Afflecks
