i would hate it if Affleck's Palace closed, i mean it's one of the main reason i come to Manchester every now and then for shopping, and i don't even live in the UK!!! xAL
keep afflecks open!its so much fun and it would take the joy out of manchester! you cna get so much fabulosue stuff there so keep it open! PLEASE I BEG
Afflecks is great, there's something in there for all walks of life and to shut it down would be a huge blow to Manchester, not to mention to our culture!
Keep Afflecks open PLEASE!!! You can't close it. I love buying mi clothes and accessories from there. Manchester may lose some of its trade without a place like Afflecks
i travel from wrexham just to go to afflecks there is no way it can close down!! it's one of the few places left for people like me and my mates to buy our unusual clothes lol!
They can't close afflecks!! manchester would not be what it is without its random places like afflecks....i spent my teenage years wanderin round that place it would be so crap as flats...dont close!!
Shit, this is bad news, I spent many an afternoon with my best mate phil wandering around looking for something funky to wear to Cream that night! I will be gutted if they turn this into another mess of fukking flats for some cheese d1cks with more money than sense to live in!
afflecks is fuckin amazin, no matter how many times you walk around it, it's still awesome...plus where are all us odd people gonna buy our clothes?!!?! lol
You cant close down afflecks, its the one place i actually enjoy goin when im back in manchester. You either buy loads of amazing things, or just chill in the cafe laughing at chavs on the street below.
Someone is joking right!!! I just love that place. It is so different and totally individual, giving a complete character that is unrivalled anywhere. I go in there everytime I visit Manchester and the loss of this building and the businesses in it would be a devastating loss to Manchester and beyond.
The colliseum has already gone, you can't take afflecks too! it is a major iconic shooping haven! without it manchester will be left with very little for the alternative types and will end up losing out to the likes of leeds! Don't let this happen, keep manchester "different"!
Afflecks is a mecca for thoes with no agenda, thoes not happy with the prescribed view of retail life, the great unwashed and thoes Disillusioned with the hum-drum shops that the rest of town has to offer to destroy this beacon of individuality in the vast sea of mundane retail anonymity would truly be a travesty of epic proportions its time to tell these people to have a heart and leave something truly real and interesting standing amid the swamp of glass and steel that this city is fast becoming!
Don't you dare! I spent so much time in that place as a kid. Half of the CDs I own came from Afflecks, a load of skating gear, various bits of fancy dress... the place is not only part of Manchester's history it's a pretty big part of mine.
this place has history, it's one of the most interesting buildings..it's not right to close it. plus if you do this probably the whole of Oldham streets business will lose out aswell..
I hope the economic argument of converting this to flats is not overpowering. Otherwise we seem destined to be a nation of identikit soulless McCities.
ive been going to afflecks for over 5 years, my older cousins used to got in the 70's, you cant close afflecks. it a social meeting place, and the best shopping manchester has to offer!!
you cant just close it like that its one of manchesters main attractions especially for alternative people from all over the country, why would anybody close down a main attraction of the city,f*** the money the b******* want , put the peoples happiness first.
/it would be such a loss if afflecks went. I still regularly travel from northampton to shop there and everythime i explain it to people they're impressed. Its a one off that is highly valued.
How about you knock down primark and all those other faggoty mainstream shops, we onl have one place to go for clothes and your fucking knocking it down
how about you knock one of the trendie shops down yeah?
CUNTS
so many people i kno love afflecks and there is nowhere like it. getting rid of it will destroy part of manchester's history n prevent others experiencing its wonder.
It would be a damn shame to see Afflecks go. It's a major draw to Manchester residents and visitors alike and a big part of what makes the city centre so unique. Even if all of the stalls and sellers can find different premises there will be no way to recreate the atmosphere there. It's a major part of the city's cultural history and of great importance to those people who can't find their niche in chain stores and the mainstream.
OMG! Manchester is known for afflects!!!
Afflects is the first place me and my mates go in manchester!! Dont you think theres enough flats in Manchester! Build them somewhere else and KEEP AFFLECTS OPEN!!!!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! They can't ruin Afflecks! Its the place where dreams are made! Iv been goin there since I was 15 and had everything from my first piercing to my first pair of baggy jeans from there... Its such a unique place that it would just be wrong to tear it down. **DON'T DO IT**
You cant close afflecks it s a major part of manchester! where would you get your alternative clothes from? W3 dont need any more flats and certainly no more boring chain shops!!!
i dont see them ripping down the Arndale??? afflecks is a haven for the alternative individual. we all love it, i love it, manchester loves it. to get rid blasphemous. like telling a scally there is no more primark!!!
cant be done!
C xx
Afflecks is my favourite place to shop it makes such a change from people in a mad rush tearing down the high street, not even looking where they're going. Its a lot more friendly and personal and very interesting.
Afflecks is a uniqueplace. I have opened a placein Bury for anyone who wants to visit
www.attic-art.co.uk
Saving Afflecks would be great but I think this guy usually gets his own way..it's all about money
Afflecks has been in manchester for a very long time and the building its self is amazing. Its the only shop of its kind in manchester and alot of surrounding cities, people travel a very long way to go there. Its the only decent shop in manchester and it was what drew me to the city centre in the first place. DONT CLOSE IT!!
Afflecks is one of the places that gives the Northern Quarter its unique character. It would be sheer madness to let it close. Manchester has lost too much already. So many small shops have gone. The Corn Exchange used to be similar to Affleck's. Now, it's the characterless Triangle shopping centre.
Whenever I'm in manchester, this is the first place I head. It's definitely a unique experience when shopping in the city. It should NOT be closed! EVER!
I was at uni in Manchester in the early 90s and I spent more time at AP than at lectures. I still go everytime I'm in Mcr and it's STILL cool. It's part of the city's heritage. I watched as they wiped all traces of Leeds' personality off the map around me in the name of money. For feck's sake don't do it to Manchester too.
you cannot close afflecks down seriously, its a totaly amazing place, i still get lost in it and i have been going for a few years now, if that closes i am not goin to manchester again.... afflecks rules all the people there are so cool.... i love shopping in there....
SAVE afflecks....
Affleks palace cannot close down! If that goes we don't have much else that is any different to any other city. What is the point in going from one city to another to see the exact same thing? People come from all over to shop there it is more than just a shop it is a part of Manchesters history. In 30 years time when all we have is selfridges and tesco metros do you think anyone will be interested in the history of them? Have stories about them? NO
I've been visiting and shopping in afflecks for over ten years, it's a fantastic, alternative, ever-changing, wonderful place! I travel frequently around the UK and very few cities have anything like it. I think it's criminal that it might be closed down for yet more(yawn) stupid flats! Eveything which is unique and individual about Manchester is slowly being trampled on by money grabbing property developers. Soon it will be accomodation and nothing else and no-one will want to live here because it will be boring!!! If anything Afflecks should be given funding to help it stay open and even to develop it more. It's the jewel of Manchester's shopping experience and not only that it's a meeting place and landmark.
How can they even THINK about closing such an amazing, unique place? There's no way I'm travelling all the way to Camden to clothes shop!Closing it would put many more people at a dsiadvantage than the number of people it would benefit.Small businesses and anybody who buys secondhand/alternative clothes/items would lose out! First Quiggins Centre in Liverpool and now this! Are they going to close down the whole of Camden next?!!It is entirely unncessary and is solely for the pursuit of money.Don't the owners of the building make enough money?!!!Greed is poisoning our entire world.
My girlfriend lives in Manchester and is a "true northern quarter" girl! One of the first places Suz took me to was Affleck's Palace.......Its got to be saved! Its part of the Manchester heritage! Plus the fact that we love shopping there. SAVE AFFLECKS!!!!
(And i drive up from Somerset on a regular basis!)
Afflecks is an important cultural institution, and something that marks the difference between high street corporate retailing and organic entrepreneurship.
