This is part of Manchester's cultural history. Its loss would be tragic. If you close it down and build more city flats you'll be putting another tear in the cultural fabric of one of the UK's most vibrant cities. Please listen to the voices on this petition.
I only discovered this place last year... I love it for the unique shopping eperience and atmosphere. Half my Christmas presents were bought there; the only place I COULD buy them.
Afflecks should never close, its the best thing about manchester; if they close it then manchester will just be like every other city boring and SHIT!!

The great thing about the Northern Quarter/Picadily area is it's charecter and the fact it's full of small, interesting looking shops. Even for people who have no interest in the sort of things being sold there, it's a nice area to be in.....this will be lost if it's replaced with identical looking flats.
The thought that Afflecks might close actually makes me want to cry. It's the main reason I go to Manchester at all. I love it to bits. I can't think of anywhere else quite like it. There is no way that something as unique and lively as this place should closed for ANY reason, let alone something as mundane as flats.
An irreplaceable oasis of the alternative. I've bought Christmas & birthday presents there for a good 15 years for the wonderful women in my life. If it shuts I'm dead meat.
Yuppie scum they will only turn it into flats, its a place where small companys like meandu start and buildup a rep and go on to better things. it provides so much inspiration for kids who want to make individual comments on life with their style. Its a place where subculture can hangout buy clothes and records. You can allready buy new rave clothes in Hand M and top shop are so corporate. the will bleed independant free style from us all so we all look like Hand M mutants or top shop tarts. Style is about haveing fun with clothes hair art keep it alive.
This isn't right. Not when it brings in people from all over the country and is the only place that people really want to go. Get rid of that, you not only stop people from going to Manchester, you stop creating an environment that is meant to cater to different cultures and interests.

This is bollocks man, Afflecks is one of the main draws into Manchester anyway, and pulls in a more diverse crowd of people than the crap shops like Debenhams and Primark.

Turn it into more flats? Great. So people flock to live in the Northern Quarter because of its creative atmosphere, and then they try to close down one of the main reasons for this.
They closed the Hacienda, close Afflecks, close the flippin Arndale - you could fit loads of flats in there... make loads of money out of the place then when it turns into a stagnant housing estate with no soul, move on to the next moneyspinner....
It would be a disaster if Afflecks closed. It's one of the few great places left in the north for alternative clothing. Don't close it! Removing it would be a step closer to Manchester becomig just another dull northern town.
I have never had the opportunity to visit Afflecks Palace, however I have heard many good things about it from friends who have been. I petition to keep it up and running as I want to have the chance to visit it one day.

We may be fighting against the ever powerful market forces of big business, but if ANYTHING can be done to rescue one of the cultural highlights of Manchester then it MUST. We lost the Hacienda to bland redevelopment - we cannot lose Afflecks too.
afflex palace has been established for over 20 years and has remained known as a place for imagination, ideas and anything a bit wacky.
to remove something like this which attracts all kinds of people if not for the music and surrounding atmosphere but the people and fun.

I travel from South Wales to Manchester a few times a year with Afflecks being one of the main reasons I make the trip. I think many people do the same and it would be a shame for it to close because Manchester would loose some of the heart and soul that draws me there.
