afflecks is one of the only good places around now, all good shops are closing or closed, its inspired me and so many of my friends over the years, and its a great landmark.
Don't shut Afflex, it's a unique place with a monopoly in its market. You'd be very stupid to close it, especially to turn it into a block of flats to make a quick buck. The housing market is over-saturated at the moment and you'd be hard-pushed to sell flats in the current climate anyway, and especially with such a huge fan base. Also, the bad PR wouldn't be worth it - any press isn't always good press.
i love afflecks its so weird n its famous everyone knows afflecks!!! the best part is theres only one! n thats why we have to keep it! its like part of manchester
Afflecks saved me from having to dress from Footlocker. Showed me that people can be individuals and escape from the small town mentality of the Midland's town where i grew up!
we can't loose such a big part of manchesters culture. As a young shopper myself who has been shopping there for many years now, i and many others believe that the lose of afflecks will have a major impact on manchester's northern quarter and indeed manchester in genral.
Dont let it go the same way as the corn exchange did, and loose more of Manchesters culture and heritage!! I went there as a youngster, and so did my son.
afflex is apart of manchesters history. and throwing that waray for ANOTHER block of pointless flats it just pathestic. i live in Birmingham and i come to see my cousin in mancheser a couple times a month and seriously i save up all month just so i can go. theres something for everyone there, its like shutting doen a small community and family!!!
you can't do this to me! i've only jsut discovered affleck's n now i hear it's in danger of being closed down ... how COULD you take the dream away when i've only just discovered it's a reality!?!?! KEEP IT OPEN!!!!!!!!!!!
Affleck's Palace is one of the unidentified but unifying aspects of Manchester - a key cultural and educational hot spot for all the students who come to study in Mcr - it educates them in the culture of Mcr and helps them to integrate - it allows people to experiment with business ideas, provides a haven for bored teenagers and was a wonderful world of inspiration for me for a big part of my 'youth'. It would be very sad to see it closed down. There are v few independant shops left in Mcr and it seems that the city business man/football wife consumer culture is taking over the city. All the best nightclubs have gone too. Save the Palace and save a key creative source of Mancunian talent and pride in our city!
Have you see the mess that company have alreday made on that building near china town? it's a complete mess so why destroy afflecks which is most likely a listed building it's been there so long with so much history just to build some shitty flats that are overlooking the worst area of manchester?! for christ sake it's going to be onlooking gun shops and everything and why put all those people out of a buisness to build something that will get absolutely TRASHED and sabotaged by EVERYONE who loved afflecks?!
keep it open and affordable! Who knows what will happen when places like this with unmeasurable cultural wealth are sold for short term financial gain?
oh dear y dey doing this i fink dat affleks iz mint and its a place where i can chill and have a laff wiv ma mates. The last thing we need are more f*****g flats
I first went to Afflecks when I was 14. I continued to go there to buy clothes, beads, music, and countless other things unitl I finished uni. I loved Afflecks and it would be a damn shame if the current crop of kids couldnt enjoy it like I did.
It was the first place I went, the first time I ever visited Manchester. It's like nowhere else. Every other city has had all its originality stripped away by developers. Afflecks is essential.
I come from NZ and recently visited Afflecks. I plan to come back to the UK later on and I WAS planning on going back to Afflecks. and having another look around. I think it's a great place to display youth culture (being a youth myself). It's a great place to set up a business, with such an exciting environment around. PLEASE DONT FORCE AFFLECKS TO CLOSE!
afflecks palace is the only place shopping wise that makes manchester different to any other city as everything else about the city is very generic, if we lose this then i could be living in any major city in the country if not europe.
plaese plaese plaese plaese dont close afflecks down...its like my second home, you cant close it down, i love that shop so much, it allows me to be myself...with the clothin and the badges (my obsession)!! im different and afflecks helps me to show that !!
