I guess they want to turn it into flats for all those who want to live in the 'Cool' Northern Quarter. Here's a thought it's places like Afflecks that make it cool. This is like those assholes who moved next to Night and Day then complained that it had music playing!
I may not live in Manchester,but every time that I have been in Manchester visiting my girlfriend,we have went to Affleck's palace.Never before have I seen so much random stuff in one place.And I love it.If the people want to keep it open,then why tear it down?Where else will these traders go?
I grew up as a teenager shopping at Affleck's in the 80's. It is the coolest place to shop/hang out/browse in the city. I take my daughter there now and she loves it too. When it shuts you will ripping some of the heart and soul of the city. Where are these traders and their customers going to go to now. F**k your soulless Arndale and Trafford Centres, give us our Affleck's Palace.
Affleck's has become part of our heritage, I have been going there since it opened and now my teenage daughter and her friends are regular shoppers. Personally speaking... This is my childhood, and such an indcredibly inmortant part of my life. Please do not allow this to happen. Culturally speaking... I was born and raised in this city and I've seen many changes. Manchester is becoming more and more like any other city all the time, Afflecks is one of the few places left in the centre which is of any cultural significance. To close it would be a slap in the face to all that makes it unique and interesting. A bad move. A very bloody bad move.
Manchester should stand for the unique and special else the city will become brand and generic. To lose Afllecks would be to lose our citys individuality
Afflecks is the only place where you can get the stuff they sell around here. People go to Manchester just for it. You cant shut it down, its the best shop ever. Everyone will be crushed if it closed! Keep it open! afflecks is the best! :(

I lived in Liverpool for 6 years and LOVED Quiggans. It's supposed to be the capital of culture yet that was one of the most cultural places there and they ripped it down to build yet another upper class snooty shopping centre! Don't let the same happen to Manchester!
Little pieces of culture no matter how small or costly should be lost.It may seem insignificant to you but for many others this is an amazing place and inspires all who go there to simply be individual, do you know many other places to do this?
what a stupid idea to close afflecks, as if the owner(s) isnt making enough money as it is, ive been going there since i was 11 and it would be a shame to close it or do something stupid like turning it into posh flats.i think afflecks should become a registered building so it can have some form of protection from the greedy bastards who own it.
Afflecks is a great place for any alternative style, if it closes everybody with any originality will eventualy fade away and the streets will be full of clones.

Don't close Afflecks. There are so many alternative people being killed all over the country (eg Sophie Lancaster) and it's a place were we can feel at place and not feel uneasy in public. Closing this building will just promote the fact that it's harder for alternative people to live in the UK. Enough of the sports shops and offices. Save the culture.

Keep the joint open, its the best building in Manchester, the people there are amazing, both staff and customers, and also, it won't kill off the Northern Quarter. Goddamn, closing Afflecks is a f*cking stupid idea.
Afflecks is at the centre of the parts of our city that are unique to bild a shiny pretensious modern building(n mure fukin offices for gods sake) in its place would be a crime to us and future generations
Look in any guidebook about Manchester and you are sure to find Afflecks Palace in there. What does it say about the government if they would let an iconic part of one of the biggest cities in the UK be closed? There is a Surplus of flats there and there are plenty of other areas for offices. Afflecks was built for the people. Let it stay for the people
You must not close afflecks, there wouldn't be a main attraction for youths and adults aswell. Manchester wouldn't be as lively with out us and affecks. therefore, You cant close it down.
