heard about this a few weeks ago and was really gutted to hear it's closing. I travle an hour on the train most the time just for afflecks. I find buying things like plugs and tapers, belts/buckles, funky laces and many other stuff are mainly an afflecks only for me and takin that away from every one would be real bad! I just hope something can be done for both the shoppers and the city its self by keeping it open! xGavx
I can't believe you'd even consider closing Afflecks Palace down, its by dfar the best place in Manchester, and anywhere else in the world to me and a lot of other people. There's a lot of quality and love in that place, it's something you can't find any place else, it'll go really far honestly. It does business..and good business..so i don't get why you'd close it..it's really for the better if it's kept open :( There will be a lot of sad / angry people if it's shut because you can't get the stuff there anywhere else, really :|
Without Afflecks, Manchester will have no individuality and no flare. It makes our city what it is, and it brings culture to what would otherwise be another shopping street, in just another town.
It can't close! It has some of the best stuff ever, which you can't get anywhere else in town :|Its really unique and does some right pretty things, keep it opennnnnnnnnnnn!!!
So Bruntwood really think they can shut down one of Manchester's most loved and probably last unique institutions? No chance! I shall be there today and have plans to protest if a planned rally goes ahead :)
I live in Cornwall now but used to live near Manchester. I love Afflecks. It's so unique. Don't shut it down or we'll lose a part of Manchester we won't ever get back! :(
I am from Perth, Australia - When i came to Manchester about 4 months ago, i fell in love with Afflecks! Seriously, it is one of my favourite places in Manchester! When i come back, i hope it is still there for me to wander round, i made a lot of great memories in that place! xx
they can't shut down afflecks palace. i live in manchester and whenever i go up there ALWAYS go to afflecks, it is something me and many of my friends do on a regular basis. they have been threatening to shut it down for years. lets not let them win this time. afflecks palace has been around since my GRANDMOTHER was a teenager. we get rid of this, we get rid of a historical landmark that is dear to many mancunian and other people in england and all over
Manchester is supposed to be known for embracing culture and promoting diversity, to shut Afflecks Palace, which is a complete contrast to the high street shopping experience in the best possible way, would be a complete mockery of everything the city is supposed to stand for! This isnt just shops your threatening to tear down, its part of the heart and soul of Manchester, kill Afflecks? Kill culture.
i am from the north east but my best friend lives near manchester and she introduced me to afflecks now i go there everytime i visit her and am always buying lots of things from there. its so unique and individual its brilliant id hate to see it close all the shops are so different and the bulding is ace! i think its a terrible idea to close and urge you to take this seriously and think about how many people you are upsetting and affecting by closing it down. not only people in manchester but all over the UK. gabbie x
If this shuts down, how much business is manchester going to loose?!Its a part of Manchester and always will be...I cant think of one city that has a place like this...Manchester isnt like most cities, We are who we are and choose who we want to be!When me and my friends found out it was closing, It broke our hearts! Its like a piece of our lives and will always be!Manchester will be a simple clone of todays modern society if Afflecks closes. Our towns origionality will simply no longer exist!Come on people sign this and help fight the idiotic people that are stupid enough to close this architectural building!!
Hey guys, can i just start by saying how pathetic the big ppl closing u down are! U are a landmark and are known all over the country, u provide jobs to ppl selling some wicked stuff and we will miss u greatly! more than vera departing from corrie. If u can pass on this msg to the cnuts who are responsible for this huuuuuge mistake i would be grateful! Cheers i will miss my shopping experience in ur fantastic one of a kind gaf. Best wishes and goodluck to the ppl of Affleks, its their loss xxxx Caroline xxxx
To destroy something and wonderfully diverse as Affleck's Palace would be a killer blow to a unique piece of Manchester's Pop Heritage.Flats and high street shops are just that - mainly large, faceless and common as muck.Affleck's on the other hand is individual, and was one of the first places I was introduced to when I first came to Manchester.I was both amazed and in awe that something like this was still here.Please...someone...s ave Affleck's - let Manchester keep it's artistic heart and soul.Yours Ardently for Affleck's!
Whenever I visit Manchester with some friends, Affleck's is the first place I bring them! It sums the spirit of Manchester up perfectly with all its diversion.
OMG!!!U CAN'T CLOSE AFFLECKS!!:@ Its just part of manchester an manchester is NOTHIN without it!!Der is somfin 4 evry one in ther an i dnt no anyone hoo dunt go in ther..cept ma mam obv!!DNT CLOSE IT DOWN!!!
