if afflecks closes the protests will be even bigger, afflecks is the only place i shop, we need it.if it goes then where are all the shops going to go, and what will fill heir places ? eh? KEEP IT OPEN
Loosing afflecks would be the last nail in the coffin of the Northern Quarter. Its a Manchester Institution. Who wants to lie in a city devoid of culture?
afflecks palace needs to stay open and i think if they are planning on turning it into flats they shouldnt then because hasnt manchester got enough i should know i use to live there!
Afflecks Palace is a One Of A Kind Place. Most of the stuff sold there is very hard to get hold of anywhere else in The Greater Manchester area. It would be a real shame to see it go. SAVE AFFLECKS !
Afflecks palace has so many things, you won't find anywhere else - and it's atmosphere and experience is one you are unlikely to find somewhere elseto close down afflecks is a travesty which will take a lot of heart out of the city of manchester
Afflecks is a unique place and closing it down would not only be dreadful for us, it would also impact Manchester's economy. Please don't rid us of this fantastic shopping centre.
I was there protesting today and after reading this i cant believe anyone would want to close afflecks, just take a look at what it says on their myspace page:We do not expect to appeal to everyone, our place is informal. We are not part of a multiple or a chain, although in the last twenty years since we started a few people, some of whom have had shop units with us in the past, have copied the idea in other cities. We hold our hats off to them!. We are an independent enterprise, for the independent entrepreneur, existing amongst the wilderness of multiples hiding behind their 'dog eat dog' corporate facades which boringly blight our city centres. The objective is now and always has been to encourage an exciting interesting place, which in our modest way would be something more than just a shopping centre based entirely on commercial interests. The very essence of this business was started on the princple of youth culture in all its extremes, and letting people 'do their own thing' to achieve this objective. We try our best to nurture our fledgling entrepreneurs , and watch them fly !. Shopping should be fun ! Afflecks Palace should be fun ! Relax meet your friends and enjoy the atmosphere ! Our dedication is to imagination, ideas, and anything a bit wacky !!. www.afflecks-palace.co.uk why would you want to close a place like this?! It's wrong! keep afflecks open! We cant let such an important part of our city die!
Afflecks is a part of manc life for many it's a place you can go without being judged or feeling uncomfortable, it would be wrong to take that away from manchester just for another block of flats or more money...it's about so much more!!!
for the love of god and all things holy and manc! keep afflecks open!! it'd be like removing a lung or something for manchster. what is manchester becoming these days if it cant even keep something as unique as afflecks. herresy!! no more flats! no need for higher rent [greedy cunts] just a need for afflecks
Afflecks Palace just rocks! It's a cool place to be, and its a place were anyone really can fit in without being judged...where else can you get a place like that in the centre of Manchester really..? Its been a part of my life for many years, and its a place where you can be yourself and there's no hostility from other for the way you are! Plus the stuff they sell in there if awesome!!! KEEP IT OPEN!!!!!!!!
Another short-sighted 'redevelopment' in Manchester City Center. This development go the same way as the Corn Exchange if it goes ahead - a complete failure! A white elephant waiting to happen.
I have been Coming to Afflecks since i was very young. I used to get brought with my mum when she used to come shopping here. I am now 20 and still like to see how it has changed. I belive that Affleck's Palace attracts a lot oh shopper's/Tourist's to Manchester city centre and would loose out on this. Not only is attracting to machester but it is keeping the original music/fashion of what manchester used to be. It would be a real shame if it got closed down.
Please don't close it, I've been going there for as long as I can remember and I still absolutely love the place! It's full of character and items you can't get in any of the other chain stores around Manchester... which you can find in any other large city... would they turn Camden into flats? No! Because its a main attraction in London... as is Aflecks for Manchester.
